International week means there is not a lot going on right now, with players off with their national teams.
Reports this week coming from Diario AS writer Edu Burgos claimed that some of Argentina’s players were using the time in camp in South America to try and persuade Enzo Fernandez to move clubs to join them all.
Atletico Madrid stars Rodrigo de Paul, Nahuel Molina, Julian Alvarez, Angel Correa and Giuliano Simeone all apparently teamed up to try and persuade Enzo that he should come to join them in the Spanish capital, under the management of national hero Diego Simeone.
It hasn’t worked – all reports say that Fernandez’s focus has remained very much on Chelsea and the Premier League
Fernandez played a key role in both his country’s wins in the last week, scoring and assisting on Tuesday night as the Albiceleste secured their place in the 2026 World Cup. Now he gets the chance to come back and have a proper rest before our next game against Tottenham a week today. We will want him at his fiery best for that one.
Enzo Fernandez applauds the fans while playing for Argentina.
While Enzo’s time at Chelsea has been mainly in a rocky period for the club, there’s no doubting he’s shown some good form this season and continues to impress fans with his passion.
There certainly feels like no chance we give up on this £100m project just yet – there is a long way to go, and while he hasn’t been the world beater you’d expect for that money yet, things are heading in the right direction. There’s a very reasonable feeling that a little more time and a more experienced setup around him will continue to help him thrive.
