Football League World takes a look at the two players who will leave Sheffield United next summer as it stands

Sheffield United have established themselves as Championship title challengers following last season's relegation from the Premier League, and could be set for an immediate top-flight return.

Despite enduring a torrid campaign last term, and starting the current season with a two-point deduction, the Blades have enjoyed several impressive results, such as a 1-0 victory over fellow automatic promotion hopefuls Sunderland last month, and a triumph over Steel City Derby rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

Manager Chris Wilder boasts a star-studded squad, full of talented individuals, such as former Coventry City duo Callum O'Hare and Gus Hamer, while starlet Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, on loan from Premier League Crystal Palace, has caught the eye with his performances on several occasions.

While it remains undecided which division the promotion challenging Blades will be plying their trade in next season, Football League World takes a look at the two players who will leave Bramall Lane next summer, if nothing changes between now and the end of the season:

Rhian Brewster

The Blades signed former Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster back in 2020 on a five-year-deal which is set to come to an end following the conclusion of the current campaign.

It wouldn't be unfair to say that the Englishman has not lived up to his £23.5m price tag, as he has never scored more than four goals in a single season for the South Yorkshire outfit.

He has failed to meet his potential after starring for England during their Under-17 World Cup triumph in India back in 2017, while Wilder's men must be envious of Brewster's 2019/20 loan spell with fellow Championship side Swansea City, during which he scored 11 goals in 22 league appearances.

As the 24-year-old's Blades contract expires next summer, Liverpool don't look set to cash in on the 15% sell-on-clause they agreed with the Bramall Lane side upon selling the striker.

Jack Robinson

Defender Jack Robinson joined the Blades from then Championship outfit Nottingham Forest in January 2020, and penned a two-year contract extension with the South Yorkshire club in 2023.

During the latter half of the 2019/20 Premier League campaign, he made nine top-flight outings for Wilder's men, helping them to land an unlikely ninth place finish.

Robinson then made 11 league appearances during the 2020/21 Premier League season, but his efforts were not enough to prevent the Blades from relegation back to the second tier.

But after dropping back down to the Championship, the former Forest man was able to show his class, and played a key role as the Bramall Lane outfit reached the play-offs in 2022.

The 31-year-old was then equally vital when the Blades earned automatic promotion back to the Premier League in 2023, and went on to make 34 top-flight outings last term, but once again his side failed to avoid the drop.

Over the years, Robinson has been a thoroughly reliable asset for his club in both the Premier League and the Championship, so it could therefore be argued that Wilder and co should be more eager to renew the defender's contract prior to the end of the season than that of Brewster.
