Heading into Sunday’s final day, the destination of the Premier League title is yet to be decided.

It’s the eighth time the league has gone down to the wire in the Premier League era.

The bad news for Liverpool? The team top of the table heading into the game has ALWAYS clinched top spot.

Here’s a look at all seven of them.

1995 – Blackburn Rovers

Lost 2-1 v Liverpool

Kenny Dalglish returned to Anfield with Blackburn but his side stumbled on their big day.

Incredibly, it didn’t matter. Manchester United dominated West Ham at Upton Park but could only manage a 1-1 draw.

Ultimately, Blackburn clinched the league by a point despite slipping up.

1996 – Manchester United

Won 3-0 v Middlesbrough

Manchester United breezed to the league, taking the lead at Middlesbrough in the 14th minute and never looking back.

The third, scored by Ryan Giggs, was an absolute beauty.

And their result didn’t even matter anyway, with Newcastle being held to a 1-1 draw by Tottenham.

1999 – Manchester United

Won 2-1 v Tottenham

Arsenal fans were desperate for Tottenham to take something off Manchester United on the final day in 1999.

Spurs did take the lead at Old Trafford but couldn’t hold on, with David Beckham and Andy Cole scoring either side of half-time for the hosts.

For the first time since 1967, United won the league at their own ground, finishing one point ahead of Arsenal.

The league was, of course, the first part of their famous Treble.

2008 – Manchester United

Won 2-0 v Wigan

An early Cristiano Ronaldo penalty, a late strike from Ryan Giggs to seal it.

Chelsea drew with Bolton on the last day but they ended up two points adrift and United would have won the league on goal difference either way.

This was, incidentally, also the last time a team lifted the trophy away from home. Manchester City will do the same if they seal the title this weekend.

2010 – Chelsea

Won 8-0 v Wigan

Ahead after six minutes through Nicolas Anelka, Chelsea were so relaxed about the title that Didier Drogba was upset to see Frank Lampard take the penalty to double the scoreline.

The Ivorian was chasing the golden boot and did get his hands on it in the end, thanks to a second-half hat-trick.

Anelka scored a second, Salomon Kalou netted one, and even Ashley Cole got on the scoresheet in the final moments.

The easiest final day win ever.

2012 – Manchester City

Won 3-2 v QPR

The most dramatic finish the Premier League has ever seen.

It should have been easy after taking the lead against QPR. It was anything but.

City went 2-1 down, then equalised through Edin Dzeko in the 92nd minute. Sergio AgĂŒero wouldn’t score the winner until the 94th.

Manchester United, who had won at Sunderland, had the title snatched from them on goal difference.

2014 – Manchester City

Won 2-0 v West Ham

Five years ago, Man City went into the final day top of the table but Liverpool still had the chance to catch them. Sound familiar?

Liverpool had, of course, already suffered terminal blows against Chelsea and Crystal Palace. Their final day defeat of Newcastle was meaningless in the end.

After a slightly nervy start, City made light work of West Ham, with Samir Nasri and Vincent Kompany scoring either side of half-time.

No AgĂŒero theatrics required.

2019 – ?

Liverpool v Wolves

Brighton v Manchester City

Two in a row for Manchester City, who travel to Brighton?

Or will they drop points and leave the door open for Liverpool to be crowned champions of England for the first time since 1990?

Whatever happens, the final day will go down in history once again.
