‘The same calibre as Lamine & Cubarsí’ – Barcelona youngster to be called up for pre-season by Hansi Flick | OneFootball

An up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona will be afforded the chance to prove his talents at senior level this summer.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who highlight Jofre Torrents as the player in question.

Torrents, for his part, is an 18-year-old left-back, who is currently plying his trade with Barcelona’s U19s.

The youngster has long been considered a potential star in the making behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital, with his technical and attacking capabilities of particular intrigue.

Torrents recently put to bed any remaining doubt over his future, in putting pen to paper on a new contract with Barca.

And as alluded to above, this show of faith on the part of club and player alike looks set to be recognised by none other than Hansi Flick this summer.

As per a report from MD:

‘The sports department considers him a player of the same caliber as Pau Cubarsí and Lamine Yamal. The Barça technical staff and the club’s sports department expect Jofre to complete preseason training with the first team, including the tour of South Korea and Japan.’

Hansi Flick will make use of this time to pass judgement on Torrents, before deciding whether or not the Spaniard is ready to contribute at senior level next season.
