Following Arsenal’s win over Leicester City, club technical director Edu Gaspar was spotted catching a flight to Valencia on Sunday morning.
This got some Gunners fans excited, given the recent links to Yeremy Pino of Villarreal.
Valencia is only a short distance away from Villarreal, and if you were flying from London you’d find it much easier to catch a flight to Valencia and drive the rest of the way.
But that’s not why Edu is in Spain. Fabrizio Romano reports for CaughtOffside that Edu wasn’t travelling to the country to meet with Villarreal, most notably because Pino’s agents are based in the UK anyway.
Though at least three Premier League clubs are monitoring Pino, there haven’t been any offers yet, and Villarreal want more than €50m (£42.2m) for the winger.
So why is Edu really in Valencia? For a family holiday, based on his wife’s Instagram story, where they can be seen playing in the pool.
The Arsenal chief is abroad with his family, as he was last week, only travelling back to London for the game at the weekend before rejoining them in Spain.
The Brazilian will presumably return to England in the coming days ahead of the final weeks of the transfer window.
