The summer transfer deadline is hurtling rapidly towards us and it could be a busy final few days.

Here’s our guide to what’s left of the window in the Premier League.

Having strengthened in a number of areas this summer, the Gunners still need to trim their squad, with Héctor Bellerín, Lucas Torreira and Sead Kolašinac just three names who could be leaving before the end of the month.

If they can raise some funds, some more creativity in midfield or even a new striker could be on the agenda, while a swap deal with Atlético Madrid involving Bellerín and Kieran Trippier has been mooted in recent days.

Aston Villa

Villa have spent the Jack Grealish money very well so far and could still bring a new midfielder to the club before the deadline.

James Ward-Prowse’s new Southampton contract means he’s probably staying put and it sounds like Metz teenager Pape Matar Sarr is off to Tottenham, but Lens midfielder Cheikh Doucouré remains a possibility.

Brentford

The Bees have continued their policy of scouring the market for hidden gems and look well equipped for their first season of Premier League football, meaning their transfer business could be done for the summer.

A back-up right-back for Mads Roerslev could still come in to add squad depth.

The Seagulls could do with two things before the window closes: a replacement for Ben White and a forward who can finish chances.

They’ve been linked with Benfica’s Darwin Nuñez, who would be an exciting signing but might leave them short of cash for a White replacement.

Getafe’s Marc Cucurella is another one who could be heading to the Amex.

Burnley

It was supposed to be a summer of investment for the Clarets under their new owners but that has so far not really been the case, with the £12m signing of Nathan Collins from Stoke being their biggest signing so far.

Lyon wing-back Maxwell Cornet has been heavily linked recently and he would be a good buy if they can pull it off, while Watford’s Will Hughes has also emerged as an interesting target.

Chelsea

Whether Chelsea need to sign Sevilla’s Jules Koundé is a matter of debate, especially since the emergence of Trevoh Chalobah. The Frenchman would be a brilliant signing if they can make the numbers work though.

There’s also been talk of a late loan move for Atlético Madrid’s Saúl Ñíguez while n terms of outgoings, selling Kurt Zouma might help balance the books.

Patrick Vieira has already added a number of interesting new faces to his Palace squad but they’re lacking an experienced goalscorer.

Liverpool’s Divock Origi would be a great acquisition if they can get him, while Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah is a solid Plan B. PSG full-back Layvin Kurzawa is another interesting rumour.

It hasn’t exactly been a summer to set pulses racing at Goodison Park but a couple of new faces could set them up for a promising season under Rafa Benítez.

Samuel Umtiti’s Barcelona career may have frittered out but he’s still a quality player who would bolster the Toffees’ defence, while Lazio winger Joaquin Correa would be a superb addition if they can get it over the line.

Leeds

It felt like Leeds’ transfer business was all done but their indifferent start to the season might just tempt Marcelo Bielsa into adding to his squad.

Celtic defender Leo Hjelde looks like he’ll be heading to Elland Road, while Huddersfield midfielder Lewis O’Brien is an outside possibility.

Leicester

The Foxes have done some great transfer business this summer and it seems unlikely they will be bringing any more new faces in before the deadline.

Brendan Rodgers will be hoping there aren’t any surprising late offers for James Maddison but Hamza Choudhury could leave, with Newcastle reportedly interested.

The summer started brightly for the Reds with the arrival of Ibrahima Konaté but it’s been very quiet since then, and is likely to stay that way.

Jürgen Klopp has hinted he won’t be signing a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum and and Origi could be following Xherdan Shaqiri out of the door before the end of the month.

Manchester City

With the Harry Kane saga rumbling to a close this week, it will be interesting to see if City can strike a deal to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus.

In the meantime, Bernardo Silva, Aymeric Laporte and Gabriel Jesus are three possible high-profile players who could still depart the Etihad in the final hours of the window.

Manchester United

The cheque book could well be closed for the summer at Old Trafford following the arrivals of Jadon Sancho and Raphaël Varane.

Either that or we’ll see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gifted a new defensive midfielder and/or a new striker.

Jesse Lingard could still leave, and Eduardo Camavinga could still join. More business seems unlikely at this point, however.

Newcastle United

It’s been another frustrating summer of inactivity at St James’ Park, with the returning Joe Willock being the Magpies’ only signing so far.

Early season results suggest they need to beef up the midfield, and Leicester’s Choudhury would go some way towards ticking that box. Rumours linking James Rodríguez with a move to Tyneside seem farfetched.

Norwich

The Canaries have had a tough start to life back in the top flight and while signing Brandon Williams on loan from Manchester United will certainly help them, they would be wise to keep assessing their options.

Rostov midfielder Mathias Normann has emerged as a possible option to replace Oliver Skipp in midfield, but the most recent reports suggested the deal had hit a snag. There’s still time though.

Southampton

Saints lost Danny Ings this summer and look to have found a more than able replacement in Adam Armstrong.

Brazilian defender Lyanco has also been brought in to replace Jannick Vestergaard, and there is optimism in the air around St Mary’s.

But Ralph Hasenhüttl admitted himself that they’re still a little light in defensive midfield positions, and it will be interesting to see if they can get one in before the deadline.

Tottenham

Kane’s U-Turn means Spurs suddenly have a very complete looking squad, and things are looking rather promising for the new season.

But Bologna’s Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu could also make the switch to north London before close of business.

As for outgoings, Tanguy Ndombele has reportedly ask to leave, and Spurs probably won’t stand in his way if a suitable offer comes in.

Watford

It has all gone quiet on the Watford front with the dry rumour mill suggesting no more new faces will be heading to Vicarage Road this summer.

Celta Vigo midfielder Okay Yokuşlu (who was on loan at West Brom last season) has been touted a possible signing and if Hughes leaves, we might see some more activity in Hertfordshire.

West Ham

Aside from the signing of goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, the Hammers look set to embark on their Europa League adventure with the same players they had last season, minus Jesse Lingard.

The chances of the Manchester United man returning to the London Stadium are looking pretty remote, while a move for Chelsea’s Zouma could still materialise before the window slams shut.

Wolves

Bruno Lage could still add Cardiff striker Kieffer Moore, Roma’s Amadou Diawara or Porto’s Sergio Oliveira to his squad at Molineux before the clock strikes midnight on 31 August.

But he might be a relieved man if Adama Traoré – linked with Spurs – is still a Wolves played on 1 September.
