FC Barcelona have endured just their second loss in La Liga this season in their previous outing against Real Sociedad. The Catalan giants, despite their best efforts, ended up mustering nothing short of an abysmal display in that particular game. Utterly dominated and suffocated, this was a game that clearly showed just how much Barcelona has relied on a certain youngster to bail them out of such situations.

That youngster is none other than 17-year-old Lamine Yamal. So far this season, even when he is not leading the charts for goal contributions, the winger has expressed his surreal quality in other ways as well. One such quality of his is undoubtedly his dribbling prowess, something that allows him to break opposition structures and cause mayhem.

However, Barcelona were unfortunately without Yamal for this game. Ultimately, this became the second defeat that La Blaugrana suffered this season in the league, and coincidentally Yamal was not a starter in both outings this time around.

The reason behind his absence has now been fully confirmed by the club. As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the La Masia winger suffers a grade 1 injury to the syndesmosis of his right ankle and he is expected to be sidelined for the next two to three weeks as his discomfit gradually subsides.

As a result, it is expected that he could end up missing the game against Celta Vigo on the 23rd of November, and subsequently could also miss the matches against Brest in the UEFA Champions League and against Las Palmas in La Liga. For both of those games, his participation is uncertain but not completely ruled out just yet.

The game that has been defined as the match in which he will most likely make his return will be the encounter against Mallorca in December now, which be an away game for the Catalan giants in La Liga. Until then, the team may have to find solutions without him.

Unfortunately for both Hansi Flick and Barcelona, Yamal is a key piece of their fundamental structure and his absence comes as a massive blow. However, it is now upto the German coach to sort out alternative strategies until he returns.
