Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer has waxed lyrical about Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah.

The two forwards found the back of the net against Fulham at Craven Cottage last Saturday. However, Liverpool only managed to secure a 2-2 draw against the newly promoted Premier League side.

Shearer believes that Nunez and Salah were the only positives for the Reds last weekend.

“Yes, absolutely (Nunez and Salah) were the only positives for Liverpool,” he told BBC Sport.

“I thought Fulham were outstanding in how they went at Liverpool. But the positives for Liverpool were Nunez when he came on and, of course, Salah.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

It was brilliant to see Nunez and Salah showcase their quality in front of goal against Fulham.

Liverpool certainly won't have any issues finding the back of the net this season. We believe that Nunez and Salah will bounce off each other.

Both players are goal hungry, so it's healthy competition.

We wish the Reds defended better against the Cottagers. But, that's how football goes sometimes.

We are confident that Liverpool will bounce back. The Reds only conceded 26 goals in 38 Premier League fixtures last season.

So, it would be fair to assume that last weekend was nothing more than a blip.

Some supporters on social media have been quite negative regarding the result against Fulham.

If we have learnt anything in the past, Liverpool have always responded to adversity under Klopp.

There is a reason why the German's team have claimed six major trophies since 2019.

With that being the case, we are looking forward to Liverpool's Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at Anfield next Monday night.
