Chelsea continue to struggle to score goals and they have received extensive media coverage following their failure to find the net once again in their 1-0 loss to Aston Villa. The Blues haven’t scored a goal since Nicolas Jackson’s third goal in their 3-0 victory over Luton Town back in August.
As per Football.London, Chelsea’s current situation contrasts sharply with the beginning of the season. Despite attempting more than 40 shots, the Blues have failed to score a goal, as many of their attempts were flagged offside and subsequently disallowed.
Regarding the loss to Villa, Pochettino stated to reporters, “The solution in front of goal is to work. We need to instill trust and confidence in our squad. We can’t alter our roster. Our focus is on nurturing their confidence and providing the necessary support for them to perform on the field. While our performance is good, I wouldn’t go as far as to call it excellent; we’re lacking clinical finishing in front of the goal.”
He then added, “We must persist, continue our efforts, and seek a solution. Tomorrow, we begin preparations for Wednesday’s match, aiming to foster belief, confidence, and trust, with the hope of finding the net.”

Consequently, the fans are urging the Chelsea boss to give an opportunity, Deivid Washington, who signed for the Blues in the summer for around £17million from Brazilian club Santos, but is yet to make a competitive debut for the West London club.
Despite boasting a talented squad and an impressive midfield, the Blues have been struggling in front of goal. The question that looms large is whether Chelsea’s boss should step up efforts to secure another striker in the January transfer window.
The question regarding whether Mauricio Pochettino should intensify his efforts to secure another striker in the January transfer window revolves around prudent squad management. Chelsea’s aspirations of vying for domestic and European titles necessitate the acquisition of a dependable goal-scoring asset. With Christopher Nkunku sidelined and Nicolas Jackson struggling with inconsistency in front of the net, the West London club face a pressing need for a lethal presence in the attacking third, an outright striker capable of consistently delivering in competitive fixtures throughout the season.
The forthcoming January transfer window presents Chelsea with a golden opportunity to address their striker situation. Acquiring a top-tier striker who can not only find the back of the net but also compliment the team’s playing style and tactical approach could be the crucial piece of the puzzle that has been missing.
