While the generation now revolves around the likes of Lamine Yamal, Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappe, Barcelona may have discovered their next big star in 13-year-old forward Fode Diallo, a La Masia sensation already being compared to club legend Samuel Eto’o.

Diallo’s explosive form has turned heads across Spanish football, and his numbers are nothing short of staggering—he netted 97 goals in just 30 matches during the 2023-24 season at the youth level.

His remarkable rise has not gone unnoticed within the club. Despite his young age, Diallo is already drawing attention for his pace, strength, and natural goal-scoring instinct, traits that have earned him the nickname “the new Eto’o.”

While that comparison carries a heavy weight, Diallo continues to embrace the pressure and deliver on the pitch.

A family built for sporting greatness

Throughout the 2024/25 season, Diallo played across both the under-13 and under-14 teams, where he continued his development by adding another 41 goals to his name.

That kind of consistency at such a young age is rare and shows why Barcelona are already betting big on his future.

His goal celebrations also speak volumes about his mentality. Inspired by Ferran Torres’ “shark” gesture, Diallo has made it his own.

But according to his brother, it is more than just a celebration, as it represents a “family philosophy” built on ambition, discipline, and a relentless drive to improve.

According to AS, that mindset seems to run in the family. His brother, Abdou, is a promising player in Mallorca’s youth ranks, while his cousin Bala Moussa represents Espanyol’s youth team.

Even outside football, the family shines, as his sister, Fatou, is a runner-up in the Spanish U20 high jump championship.

Barcelona see Fode Diallo as a serious long-term project for the first team. Though still only 13, his impact in La Masia is already drawing comparisons to some of the greatest names in the club’s history.

If his development continues on this path, Camp Nou may soon witness the rise of a new icon.
