Jude Bellingham is set to complete his move from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid for a initial fee of around €103m, making him the third most expensive teenager of all-time.
But which players currently reside in the top 10? Let’s take a look …
Rooney will lose his spot in the top 10 following the Bellingham transfer but the former Manchester United man was the original boy wonder.
He broke through as a 16-year-old at Everton before stunning for England at Euro 2004. Alex Ferguson paid the fee to bring him to Old Trafford and it’s safe to say he didn’t do too badly during his time in Manchester becoming the club’s all-time record goalscorer in his 13 years there.
Shaw was another player that broke into the England squad as a teenager, making the 2014 World Cup squad at 18 as a Southampton player.
He then completed the move to Old Trafford as one of Louis Van Gaal’s first signings later that year and has earned the right to don the famous badge ever since, despite what José Mourinho thinks of him.
One of the most surprising names on the list (if you don’t play Football Manager, that is).
Silva had made less than 25 appearances for Porto, scoring just three goals, before Wolves were convinced to pay €40m for the striker.
He’s more than doubled his appearances in England (62) but has been sent out on loan to Anderlecht and PSV this season.
Real Madrid were really gutted to miss out on Neymar in 2013, but they went about making sure they never missed out on another young Brazilian talent again.
The first of those was Vinícius Junior in 2017 and he’s not done too badly since …
The next one was Rodrygo in 2018 and with 14 goals and 11 assists last season, Real could be on to another winner.
Martial bagged 15 goals as a teenager at Monaco before Van Gaal paid a huge fee to bring him to England where he netted on his debut in style against Liverpool.
Seven years on from the move, a loan out to Sevilla last season suggested his time at United was unclear, but Erik ten Hag has reintegrated him back into the starting line-up as his main striker this season.
Real will be hoping the 16-year-old will have the same impact as Vinícius and Rodrygo when he completes his move to the Spanish capital in 2024.
Ajax’s remarkable run to the Champions League final in 2019 resulted in big moves for Donny van De Beek, Hakim Ziyech and De Ligt.
The centre-back became Juventus’ third-most expensive signing in history when he made the move to Italy that summer.
Atlético had just lost Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona and needed to replace him. Step forward one of the hottest prospects in football in 2019 with the teenager having scored 22 goals and provided 11 assists for Benfica.
Félix’s time at Atlético hasn’t been a success just yet, after moving out on loan to Chelsea in January but at 23 still has time to turn his career around.
Bellingham’s fee is high but won’t reach these heights. Yet even at this price, PSG fans have a right to claim they have a bargain on their hands.
