Some surprise names and some surprise tenures! Here are the longest serving players for each Premier League club right now.

Arsenal

Emiliano Martinez

The Argentine goalkeeper, currently on international duty for the first time in eight years, has never been closer to the number one slot at Arsenal.

Having made his debut for the club way back in 2012, Martinez has since gone on six different loan spells. Now, at 27, he’s the Gunners’ cup keeper for the season.

Aston Villa

Jack Grealish

Grealish’s first involvement with the Villa first team came at the tender age of 16.

Now 24, the local lad is the club’s talismanic skipper.

Bournemouth

Charlie Daniels

Initially joining Bournemouth on loan, Daniels first appearance for the club came back in 2011.

They liked each other so much that the move was made permanent and he hasn’t gone anywhere since, making 262 first team appearances for the Cherries and playing for the club in three different tiers.

Brighton

Lewis Dunk

Born in Brighton, Dunk’s only foray outside of the city was a loan spell with Bristol City in 2013.

Otherwise, he’s been at the Seagulls since he started kicking a ball around and made his first team debut way back in 2010.

Kevin Long

Nine years a Burnley player, 47 league appearances.

Long has gone on six different loan spells since joining the Clarets but has proven a valuable backup to Sean Dyche in the last few years.

Cesar Azpilicueta

Mister Reliable himself. Azpilicueta is a rare long-serving player at Stamford Bridge.

The club captain has won two Premier League titles and two Europa League titles since his arrival from Marseille in 2012.

Joel Ward

Looking for Mr Reliable? Well here he is.

Joel Ward joined Palace in 2012, and has probably played in every possible position for them – notching up over 200 appearances.

Leighton Baines

Remember when Leighton Baines played for Wigan? Well he’s now been at Goodison Park for over 12 years.

The left-back no longer sees much football but his 411 games and 38 goals will leave long in the memory of Toffees fans.

Leicester

Kasper Schmeichel

Schmeichel burst onto the scene with Manchester City in 2007 before bouncing around various clubs on loan and eventually playing for Notts County and Leeds permanently.

Then, finally, some stability. Leicester signed the Dane in 2011 and he’s been first choice ever since, winning promotion in 2014, then the Premier League in 2016, and playing in the Champions League in 2016/17.

Liverpool

Jordan Henderson

Signed in the summer of 2011 when Kenny Dalglish was in charge of the club, Henderson came with a big price tag and lofty expectations.

The midfielder has gone on to replace Steven Gerrard as captain and lifted the Champions League trophy in June – not bad!

Manchester City

David Silva

An absolute magician with four Premier League titles to his name.

Now in his final season with the club, Silva is a bonafide legend not just for Manchester City but in Premier League football.

Yep, Phil Jones, who joined from Blackburn in 2011 and has a contract at Old Trafford until 2023.

Newcastle United

Rob Elliott

Paul Dummett may have been at Newcastle since 2000 but he wasn’t involved for the first team until 2012, a year after Rob Elliott.

Eight years on from joining the club, Elliott has made just 68 appearances. Someone has to be the reserve goalkeeper, after all.

Norwich

Alex Tettey

How long as he been at Norwich?

Well, he’s already enjoyed two relegations from the Premier League and two promotions back up again!

Sheffield United

Chris Basham

The shortest-longest-serving player on the list, Basham joined Sheffield United in 2014 after spells with Bolton and Blackpool.

He spent three seasons in League One with the Blades and two in the Championship before earning promotion back to the big time in 2018/19. Now 31, he’s started every Premier League game so far this season.

Southampton

Jack Stephens

After four loan spells, Jack Stephens finally appeared to have made it at St Mary’s with 63 Premier League appearances in the last three seasons.

Now the dream could be over. The defender started the first game of the season but hasn’t featured since.

Tottenham

Danny Rose

Signed by Martin Jol in 2007 – yes, 2007! – Rose had to wait a while to make his mark at Spurs.

He made it, though, and did so in style, scoring a screamer against Arsenal on his debut in 2010. The left-back has been a regular under Mauricio Pochettino.

Watford

Troy Deeney

Who else?

The club captain joined in 2010 and has left a troubled past behind him to score 123 times for the Hornets.

West Ham

Mark Noble

West Ham through and through.

Noble, who joined the Hammers at the age of 13, made his first team bow at just 17 in August 2004. He’s since made 473 appearances and scored in 14 consecutive seasons, 13 of which have been spent in the Premier League.

Wolves

Matt Doherty

Doherty signed for Wolves after impressing in a pre-season friendly against Bohemians back in 2010 – the game curiously came before the Irishman had featured in a competitive game for Bohs.

A reported fee of just £75,000 has turned out to be a bargain.

Now a first team regular and key member of the side that won promotion in 2018 and earned a place in Europe with their performances last season.
