Barcelona are confident that Marc-André ter Stegen will commit his future to the club.
That’s according to Spanish outlet AS, who report that Barça believe Ter Stegen will sign a contract extension which will run until 2024.
The German goalkeeper has been the club’s No1 since Claudio Bravo left to join Manchester City in 2016, and his current deal is set to expire at the end of next season.
He has recently been linked with a move to Chelsea but Barça are said to be confident that the 27-year-old’s €180m release clause will deter any potential bidders.
AS claim Ter Stegen is happy to stay where he is and his representatives have been left annoyed by false reports linking him with a move away following rumours he has fallen out with Lionel Messi.
But talks of a new contract have been ongoing since December and Goal reported on Monday that negotiations have stalled because Ter Stegen wants his new deal to be worth €15m-a-year.
And with the season entering a crucial period for Quique Setién’s side, it is possible that contract talks will now be put on hold until the summer.
