Manchester City will look to get back to winning ways on Thursday night, after back-to-back defeats in the Carabao Cup and Premier League last week.

Pep Guardiola’s side saw their frustrations heightened on Saturday afternoon as a Jack Grealish opener at Old Trafford was cancelled out by two quick-fire late goals to give Manchester United a memorable derby day victory.

Following Arsenal’s win over Tottenham, that left the reigning Premier League champions eight points behind Mikel Arteta’s squad, needing nothing less than a victory over Antonio Conte’s players this week.

In the run-up to the clash, City were hit with a major scare surrounding Kevin De Bruyne and the Belgian’s availability for the game. However, a string of positive updates have since emerged, bringing Pep Guardiola’s squad to full compliment ahead of the clash at the Etihad Stadium.

Here is a comprehensive round-up of the latest team news and fitness updates from both the Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur camps!

Manchester City

Despite being absent from Tuesday’s training session at the City Football Academy, Pep Guardiola confirmed the return of Kevin De Bruyne to the first-team prior to the clash against Tottenham.

Speaking during his press conference on Wednesday afternoon, the City boss said of his vice-captain, “He had a personal issue, and didn’t train (on Tuesday). He’s back.”

Manchester City have also been boosted by the return of both Ruben Dias and John Stones following their respective lay-offs through injury.

Given the recent defensive struggles around City’s performances of late, the return of the duo will be a huge boost, as Pep Guardiola said of the pair, “They are back in the last two training sessions. They trained well, they are in contention.”

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs boss Antonio Conte confirmed during his pre-match press conference ahead of their trip to Manchester that midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is back in training for the club, and could feature against City on Thursday night.

Speaking to the media this week, Conte disclosed, “Like I said after the game against Arsenal, we have Rodrigo Bentancur training with us – he is available and he could be available for the game against City.”

Yves Bissouma has been dealing with an ankle problem over the course of the last week, but featured as a late substitute against Arsenal, as Conte explained ahead of their journey north, “Bissouma had a training session, he trained the whole session and I think that he has recovered in the last few days.”

Lucas Moura remains ruled out through injury.
