An update on the wellbeing of Celta Vigo star Jonathan Bamba has come to the fore online.

This comes amid Celta’s ongoing preparations for a daunting La Liga showdown with heavyweights Barcelona this weekend.

Rafael Benitez’s troops are set to play host to the Blaugrana on Saturday evening, intent on springing a surprise on their admittedly inconsistent opponents.

And the Celestes’ hopes of as much could yet be boosted by the return of a key member of Benitez’s squad.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, Jonathan Bamba could yet take his place back in Celta’s matchday setup to face Barcelona.

The attack-minded midfielder spent the last couple of months on international duty with the Ivory Coast, featuring in three fixtures en route to the Elephants clinching glory at the Africa Cup of Nations.

After returning to base in Spain this week, though, the 27-year-old is in line to link back up with his Celta Vigo teammates in training on Friday.

And though he is unlikely to feature from the off, as much should see Bamba afforded a spot on the hosts’ bench at Balaídos on Saturday evening.
