After several weeks of formal negotiations between the two clubs and the player, Barcelona appear to have reached the final stage of official negotiations with Athletic Bilbao's young winger, Nico Williams.

Everything seems to be in its final stages to see Nico Williams in the Barcelona shirt, Barcelona are able to make the final financial payment and the player has also given his final word of approval for this transfer as well.

In the last few days, the player wanted some guarantees in order for his contract to be registered due to the similar issues that the Catalan club was going through, but in the end, the issue was resolved and the player got his guarantee.

The way is clear for Barcelona

According to some press reports, most notably those from Spanish journalist Gerad Romero, Barcelona have 99.9 per cent of their management issues resolved.

Today, Barcelona and the player are happy to finalise only the legalities and small details of the contract, including the payment of the player's penalty clause. Therefore, the process is now only a matter of time and there are no further obstacles as before, and the penalty clause is expected to be paid this weekend.
