West Ham hope to have the key to land Koni De Winter this summer.

The Genoa defender is seen as a key target for Graham Potter in the upcoming transfer window, with it understood that the Hammers boss wants him to replace Dinos Mavropanos – who is expected to be sold.

De Winter is known to be a target for other clubs across Europe, including Manchester United, however West Ham believe they have the upper hand in signing the Belgium international.

Max Cornet is currently on loan at the Serie A club this season, as their manager and former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Viera is said to be very impressed with the Ivory Coast winger.

West Ham on the other hand are keen to offload Cornet, so its now seen as a potential opportunity to strike a deal with Genoa for Cornet to move to Italy on a permanent deal, with De Winter heading the other way.

There is now growing confidence that Cornet could be the key to fend off interest from others, which would see De Winter head to east London this summer.
