Currently, Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City squad are continuing their preparations for the 25/26 season. The City squad will travel to Sicily this weekend to take on fellow City Football Group club Palermo in the inaugural Anglo-Palermitan Trophy. The match is, in essence, a friendly and an opportunity for Pep Guardiola’s side to fine-tune components of their play ahead of their opening Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on August 16.

But as the Manchester City squad continues their preparations for a new season, for City fans the journey that will be the 25/26 season is set to get underway in under two weeks. Each season is a journey filled with twists and turns and the 25/26 season will be no different.

There is an element of a new beginning that awaits Manchester City fans next season.

Manchester City have continued their rebuild this summer. So far, City have signed Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Marcus Bettinelli, Tijjani Reijnders, Sverre Nypan and James Trafford. Each player (besides Marcus Bettinelli who figures to be more of a squad player) is an exciting addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad. For City fans, how the players are integrated into City’s style of play will be of great interest. If they all hit the ground running anything is possible. But it must be said that they will all need time to adjust to their new surroundings. City fans will be hoping they all make a tremendous impact next season.

But as new signings integrate into Pep Guardiola’s squad the need for City to pick up results early on is paramount. Manchester City will not want to make a slow start to a new season. After last season’s difficulties, a good start to a new campaign will provide City fans with optimism. But given Manchester City’s tough opening fixtures, there are no games to play for fun with no commitment. It is imperative that Pep Guardiola’s side hit the ground running to provide optimism for what lies ahead.

For City fans, the journey that lies ahead is part of the fascination.

No matter what happens next season in the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup or Carabao Cup for Pep Guardiola’s side the journey as a fan is the exciting part. Of course, watching Manchester City win titles and trophies completes the journey. But the steps taken along the way are the most enjoyable part of it all. The nerves that come before a game. Waiting nervously to confirm a vital result. The pre-game nerves and post-game euphoria shape the journey. The highs and lows along the way all make it a journey like no other.
