It’s the new season and excitement is everywhere. West Brom was no exception on Saturday!

The Baggies kicked off the new campaign at home against Bolton Wanderers. The hosts fell to a 2-1 defeat upon their return to the Championship but that may not have been the most embarrassing part of their afternoon.

That’s West Brom’s new mascot. And yes, it’s a boiler. Sorry, a combi boiler!

The internet has dubbed the mascot Boiler Man, the Football League’s most tragic superhero.

We aren’t having you on, we swear. The club’s new sponsor are Ideal Boilers and the club have honoured them in the best (or worst?) fashion imaginable.

Sometimes the obvious jokes are the best ones.
