But if you hate it, at least you can console yourself with the fact we’re now one day closer to the return of the club game.

In the meantime, here’s the cream of Friday’s action from across the world …

Get Mo Salah on Liverpool corner duty ASAP

Mohamed Salah has endured a quiet start to the 2018/19 season and has so far found the net for Liverpool just three times this term.

But if the Reds had let him take all their corners, the Egyptian might have scored a few more by now.

Here he is scoring directly from a corner in Egypt’s 4-1 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Swaziland.

Was he going for goal or was it a fluke? We’ll let you decide.

Jesus resurrects his international career

This might not be the greatest goal you’ll see today, but it meant a lot to Gabriel Jesus.

Prior to Friday’s friendly with Saudi Arabia, the Manchester City striker hadn’t scored for Brazil since before the World Cup.

But he broke his duck to open the scoring just before half-time in Riyadh, and he’ll be hoping to put his summer woes firmly behind him now.

“I was much happier that he scored a goal than if I had five,” said Neymar after the game. Ain’t that sweet?

Looking for Eric

A man who broke a rather larger duck of his own on Friday was Manchester United defender Eric Bailly, who scored his first ever international goal in Ivory Coast’s 4-0 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Central African Republic.

It took the 24-year-old 31 appearances to finally open his international account and he seemed to enjoy it, as you would.

But the weirdest thing about that video is that he was wearing the number 9 shirt. What’s that about?

Will the real Romelu Lukaku please stand up?

It’s beginning to feel like Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku and Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku are two completely different people.

The striker hasn’t really got going so far at Old Trafford this season but on Friday, he was on fire when he netted twice for his country in a 2-1 win over Switzerland.

This goal, to finish off a lovely passing move involving Eden Hazard and Dries Mertens, was the pick of the pair.

That’s now 27 goals in his last 28 international games for the 25-year-old. Hopefully he can take that form back to the Premier League with him after the international break.

Marko Arnautović can’t stop scoring

Captaining his country for the first time, Marko Arnautović scored the only goal in Austria’s UEFA Nations League victory over Northern Ireland on Friday.

The West Ham forward has scored four in seven Premier League games this season and that goal was his third in four games for club and country.

He also celebrated by pounding his chest and laughing in Jonny Evans’ face. We’re not sure why but we like it all the same.

What Usain?

We know it’s not international football but we couldn’t let a goals round-up pass without mentioning that eight-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt bagged a brace for A-League side Central Coast Mariners in a trial match against MacArthur South West United.

The first goal from the former Jamaican sprinter wasn’t a bad finish at all …

But the less said about the defending for the second, the better …

And you thought Marvel: Infinity Wars was the most ambitious crossover event in history.
