Mika Biereth, who scored his 11th goal in the top flight to open the scoring in the 2-0 victory over SCO, was voted man of the match by the Rouge et Blanc fans on the AS Monaco App.
He continues to find the net in Ligue 1! And for the first time, he did so away from the Stade Louis-II! As AS Monaco chased a first away victory of 2025, Mika Biereth took it upon himself to lead his teammates to three points once again, to the point of being named MVP of the match by the fans.
However, it took a long time to unlock this game of Matchday 26 in Angers at the Stade Raymond-Kopa. It was in fact in the final quarter of an hour of the match that Monaco’s victory would become clear.
But before that, the Dane created his first big chance with a cross shot that Yahia Fofana deflected just wide of the post (28′). He would then create two more chances (38′, 60′), but neither would find the net.
So it was finally just before added time that the Monegasque serial scorer finally broke Angers’ resistance, with a pinpoint cross from… Caio Henrique – who had already provided an assist for Mika against Reims – which he would cleverly finish with two touches (0-1, 77′) !
It was an eleventh goal in Ligue 1 for the newly-minted Danish international, once again decisive with the Rouge et Blanc, on a 31st assist for the Brazilian in the top flight, and his fourth in the last seven matches.
As a result, in addition to a solid performance (3 shots, 9 ball touches in the box, 1 goal), the number 14 became the fastest player to exceed 10 goals (11) in Ligue 1 over the last 75 seasons (9 matches), according to Opta. He was also the first to score 11 goals in his first season in the top flight having arrived in the league in January since Hugo Curioni with FC Nantes in 1973-1974 (14).
Now the spotlight is increasingly on him, but with 11 goals and three assists already in such a short time, it's really impressive. He's doing his job, working for the team, integrating our style of play better and better, and that's the most important thing for me.
But as records never come alone, MikaGOAL is also the first to score 11 goals after his first nine Ligue 1 matches since Dick Van Dijk in 1972 (11), again according to the statistics provider. It’s quite simple: since his debut with AS Monaco on January 17th, the Dane is the top scorer in Europe’s Big 5 leagues behind Ousmane Dembélé (12).
It was therefore only natural to see him win his fourth match MVP award with the Rouge et Blanc, with over 90% of the votes from Monaco fans on the AS Monaco App. Bravo Mika! 🏆
