It’s fair to say that with all its shortcomings, Paris Saint-Germain still has one of the best teams in Europe. A dominant force in France for years, PSG’s bids for the European throne have failed on several attempts. Last year, hopes were running high when the French champion defeated Manchester United away, but Anthony Martial had other ideas for the return tie. PSG was once again out in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League and talk about dismantling the star-studded squad was ripe.
It didn’t come to fruition, though. Although the club didn’t spend as much money as previous seasons, sporting director Leonardo tweaked the squad with great players once again. With the Neymar Jr. saga finished (at least until January), PSG can aim high once again.
PSG Odds
Paris Saint-Germain is the absolute favorite to win the Ligue 1 this year as well. That was to be expected. The other clubs in the French league simply don’t have the financial power to compete with such a juggernaut. This once again proves that PSG’s slip-up in 2016 when AS Monaco won the title was just that – a simple slip-up.
The odds of PSG winning Ligue 1 this year are 1/10 – not even worth considering. PSG’s incredible attackers are widely expected to top the goalscoring charts this year. Kylian Mbappé leads the list with evens odds, Edinson Cavani is second with 5/1, while Neymar is third at 6/1. Elsewhere, there’s not much value to bet on PSG – the team is that powerful.
It’s a whole other story in the Champions League. After years of failing to reach higher than the quarter-finals, bookies don’t believe PSG has what it takes to be a champion. Most bookies place PSG behind Manchester City, FC Barcelona, and Liverpool FC with odds in the area of 10/1. If you want to bet on PSG’s enticing chances, we suggest using a free bet or a bonus. Neymar, Cavani, Mbappé, Angel Di Maria, and newest acquisition Mauro Icardi are not the first stars to wear the famed Parisian shirt. Before them, Ronaldinho, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and many others wore PSG colors with pride. Let’s take a path down memory lane and check out some of the most iconic legends that were part of Les Parisiens.
David Beckham
A football icon for decades, David Beckham spent the last years of his European career at PSG. Even though he didn’t play a big part in his team’s games, he was thrilled to wear the jersey. He was subbed off on his last game, and his farewell was one of the most emotional goodbyes ever in the world of football.
Ronaldinho
Ronaldinho is considered one of the best players to ever touch a ball. He’s a football legend and a club legend. Everyone remembers his magic with the ball and how unstoppable he was during his prime. He played for PSG for two seasons before moving to Barcelona, but that was enough to make a big impact.
Thiago Silva
Thiago Silva is a highly underrated defender. One of Europe’s best during his time, he captained Milan before coming to PSG. A fearing presence in the back, Silva is widely considered to be one of the best players to grace PSG’s shirt.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The man, the legend – Zlatan Ibrahimovic. In his four years in Paris, Zlatan bagged 113 goals for PSG, a record that would be later broken by Cavani. He brought recognition to the club and tried his best to bring the Champions League title to the French capital, but he couldn’t do it alone.
Still playing at the age of 37 in Major League Soccer, Ibrahimovic is showing no signs of slowing down. If there’s one PSG legend we could pick, it’s the legendary Swedish forward.
