“England need a proper manager. They are wasting their time with Southgate. My advice to the FA is go and get Mourinho as your head coach and appoint Southgate as the FA chairman. They are both perfect for the job.”
The words there of former Tottenham striker Mido, who is clearly not impressed with the job done by Gareth Southgate since being appointed England manager in 2017.
But do you agree with the Egyptian goal-getter? Is José the right man to finally lead the Three Lions to tournament glory?
And if not, who?
Easy: Brendan Rodgers.
Tactically astute, too self-confident to be affected by the ‘poisoned chalice’ and the typical media furore that follows England around, and a man who always manages to get the most out of his key players.
Plus I’d like to see him try and reconcile with Raheem Sterling. We could see fireworks there no matter what happens on the pitch.
I’m not sure why anyone in their right mind would leave a top level club to manage a national team in this day and age.
So that’s why I think England should target Steven Gerrard as their next boss.
He’s done a decent job at Rangers, he got 114 caps for England during his playing career, and he’s the kind of up and comer the FA should be looking at.
And if he fails, they could always sack him, hire Frank Lampard and really settle the debate once and for all.
England’s lack of identity and poor managerial choices will forever be a sour note on my life-long footballing experience, so I don’t hold much hope for the next one!
In my opinion, and brace yourselves here fellow Spurs fans, Arsène Wenger is the man for the job. He has an extraordinary appreciation for the English game that he is responsible for developing, would command immediate respect from the players and has the knowledge and CV to match.

It will never happen in a million years, but let’s just for a second imagine a world where anything is possible and the dream candidate is available and up for the challenge.
Step forward, Marcelo Bielsa.
The Argentine tactician has clearly learned to love England during his time as Leeds boss and would undoubtedly get the best out of the Three Lions astonishing array of young, attacking talent.
Go on Marcelo, you know you want to.
As someone whose dual nationality is Scottish and Irish, there’s only one man for the job in my opinion.
He did a fine job last time and deserves another go at it. Bring back Steve McClaren!
