Paris Saint-Germain is extremely proud to announce that its first-team head coach, Luis Enrique, has extended his contract at the club until 2027, with players Achraf Hakimi, Vitinha and Nuno Mendes all signing contract extensions until 2029, while Yoram Zague has renewed his deal until 2028. Meanwhile, Ibrahim Mbaye and Naoufel El Hannach have put pen to paper on their first professional contracts and are now tied to the capital club until 2027.
Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of Paris Saint-Germain:
“We are delighted to announce the extension of our coach Luis Enrique together with six fantastic players who continue to build their future at Paris Saint-Germain.
Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha and Yoram Zague each contribute enormously to our Club - while we are also very proud our Academy has produced the brilliant young players Ibrahim Mbaye and Naoufel El Hannach who are turning professional.
These announcements are further examples of the strong, long-term foundations we have established at Paris Saint-Germain – based on developing the very best talent, who believe in the project, who fight for the shirt, and who place the collective above everything else.
I am particularly grateful to our coach Luis Enrique who has driven great progression and cultural change at the Club in such a short time.
We can be very excited for the future of Paris Saint-Germain.”
Having enjoyed a more than accomplished playing career, it certainly didn’t take Luis Enrique Martínez García long to experience similar success as a manager.
Following spells in charge of FC Barcelona’s reserve team (2008–2011), AS Roma (2011–2012) and Celta Vigo (2013–2014), the Asturian truly made a name for himself in the 2014–2015 season by winning a historic treble of La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League with Barça’s first team. Having been named as the FIFA World Coach of the Year in 2015, Enrique would continue his successful tenure in Catalonia until 2017, taking home another La Liga title, two more Copas del Rey, the Supercopa de España, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Lucho then took charge of the Spanish men’s national team from July 2018 to June 2019, before a second spell from November 2019 to December 2022, during which time his side reached the semi-finals of UEFA EURO 2020 and the final of the 2020–2021 UEFA Nations League.
After joining Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year deal in the summer of 2023, Enrique achieved another magnificent treble, this time winning Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions in his very first season in the French capital, whilst also guiding Les Rouge et Bleu to their fourth UEFA Champions League semi-final.
With the team still competing on all fronts this season as well as leading the way in the Ligue 1 table and having already lifted its second Trophée des Champions in two years, it was only natural for Paris Saint-Germain and Luis Enrique to prolong their adventure together until June 2027.
Luis Enrique: “I’m very happy to continue this story with Paris Saint-Germain. I feel very comfortable here; we have all that we need in order to work in the best possible conditions. I think that the future looks very bright, and I hope to enjoy a lot more success with the club.”
Having come through Real Madrid’s youth academy before enjoying spells at Borussia Dortmund and then at Inter Milan, Achraf Hakimi signed for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021 and quickly established himself as one of the first names on the Paris team sheet.
In his maiden season in the French capital, the Morocco international played his part in the club’s Ligue 1 title win by making a total of 40 appearances, and since then, his trophy collection has only grown bigger with the addition of two further French league titles (in 2023 and 2024), one Coupe de France (in 2024) and three Trophées des Champions (in 2022, 2023 and 2024). This level of experience is what now earns him a place among Luis Enrique’s vice-captains, and with a tally of 17 goals and 27 assists in 147 appearances for Paris, Hakimi today ranks as one of the world’s best players in his position.
The Moroccan also made a major contribution to his national team’s remarkable run through the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where the Atlas Lions reached the semi-finals of the competition for the first time ever.
Paris Saint-Germain is therefore delighted to be able to count upon Hakimi until 2029.
Achraf Hakimi: “I’m very happy to be continuing my stay with Paris Saint-Germain. I’d like to thank the club’s president, sporting director and coach, who have all made this possible. This club and its fans really do have something special; here, I have an ideal environment in which to work and to blossom on the pitch. It’s an honour to represent this great club, and I can’t wait to keep contributing to its history.”
Having won the Portuguese league title with FC Porto in the spring of 2022, Vítor Machado Ferreira – or Vitinha for short – soon picked up another trophy with Paris Saint-Germain. Following his arrival on 30th June 2022, the talented midfielder won the Trophée des Champions on his competitive debut in July 2022.
Since then, he has added five further titles to his collection during his two-and-a-half seasons at the club (Ligue 1 in 2023 and 2024, the Coupe de France in 2024 and the Trophée des Champions in 2022, 2023 and 2024).
Aged 22 when he joined Paris and having also spent a season in the Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Viti very quickly established himself as a crucial cog in the Rouge et Bleu machine.
His creativity, versatility and capacity to win the ball back means that he often sets his team on the right track, as demonstrated by his fantastic goal away to FC Barcelona in April 2024, which put the Parisians on the path towards the next round.
After a superb 2023–2024 season, the man who has earned 25 caps for Portugal was an obvious choice for the Ligue 1 Team of the Year as well as the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season. As yet more evidence of his burgeoning talent, Vitinha was also shortlisted for the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
Paris Saint-Germain is therefore thrilled to be continuing the journey with Vitinha through to 2029.
Vitinha: “I’ve made a lot of progress since my arrival, including as a person. I hope to be an important element in the team and will give my all to achieve that. My family feels good, and so do I. I love Paris, coming to work at PSG Campus, the people who work here and the club. There are a lot of reasons why I want to stay here for a long time.”
Having graduated from Sporting Clube de Portugal’s youth academy, Nuno Mendes joined Paris Saint-Germain aged 19, firstly on loan in the summer of 2021 and then on a permanent basis at the end of that same season – a campaign during which the Sintra-born defender confirmed his potential.
With 47 appearances under his belt for Sporting, Mendes kept up this momentum with Les Parisiens as he made a major contribution to the club’s tenth Ligue 1 title win. He would then win this trophy again in the following two seasons, as well as the Coupe de France in 2024 and two Trophées de champions in 2022 and 2024 respectively, before reaching the 100-game milestone with Les Rouge et Bleu in the team’s Trophée des Champions victory in January 2025.
Mendes’s consistency earned him a place in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year in 2022 and then again in 2023, when he was also named as the league’s Young Player of the Year, while he now boasts four goals and 14 assists in 107 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain.
This lightning start to his career led to Mendes being called up by Portugal’s senior team for the first time in March 2021, during his first season in Paris. Since then, he has taken part in every major international tournament – including UEFA EURO 2020, the 2022 FIFA World Cup and UEFA EURO 2024 – and is now one of A Seleção das Quinas’s key players.
Paris Saint-Germain is therefore delighted to be able to face the challenges ahead with Nuno Mendes in its ranks.
Nuno Mendes: “I’m very proud to be extending my contract with Paris Saint-Germain. It’s a club where I’ve felt good since I arrived, and I’m very happy to be staying here. It means a lot to me because it’s a great club with a great history and one that has had a lot of great players, and I’m very happy to be part of the history of this great club. PSG is special; it’s like a family to me.”
History is being written in Paris, not only by Luis Enrique, Achraf Hakimi, Vitinha and Nuno Mendes but also by the club’s academy players!
Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to have signed up three youngsters who have come through its youth academy: Yoram Zague, Ibrahim Mbaye and Naoufel El Hannach.
Born in Paris, Yoram Zague signed his first professional contract in August 2023, and the 18-year-old right-back has now extended his contract through to 2028. With ten first-team appearances to his name, the man who has played for France’s U17s, U18s and U19s made a lasting impression when he doubled his team’s tally in the 2-1 win away to OGC Nice last season. A few weeks later, he would pick up the first Ligue 1 title of his career.
Like Zague, Naoufel El Hannach also joined the club’s pre-academy before rising through the ranks. Born in Poissy, the 18-year-old defender and Morocco youth international (at U17, U18 and U20 level) pulled on the Rouge et Bleu shirt twice with the first team during last summer’s pre-season preparations. He has now signed his first professional contract through to 2027.
Born in Trappes in 2008, Ibrahim Mbaye joined Paris Saint-Germain at the age of ten. The prolific forward has also played for France at U16, U17 and U18 level.
On 16th August 2024, the Paris academy product took a step up as he made his first-team debut in Ligue 1 against Le Havre; in doing so, at just 16 years, six months and 23 days old, he became the capital club’s youngest-ever debutant. Quick, powerful and versatile, Mbaye has five league appearances to his name this season and has also now signed his first professional contract through to 2027.
Paris Saint-Germain would like to congratulate its three Titis and wishes them every possible success in their fledgling careers in the French capital.
