Attack! Attack! Attack! There is nothing football fans truly love more than a free-flowing attacking team. Goals win games, and the art of sticking the ball in the net is unquestionably the lifeblood of the beautiful game.

With that in mind, we’ve decided to celebrate five of the highest scoring teams in Premier League history. So here’s to some of the modern era’s great entertainers…

5. Manchester United – 1999/2000 – 97 goals

After winning the treble the previous season, Manchester United continued their dominance of English football with another title-winning campaign.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side broke the Premier League goalscoring record with 97 league strikes, iconic striker partnership Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole scoring 49 league goals between them.

United would finish 18 points clear of runners-up Arsenal in a dominant league campaign, they’re second of three consecutive championships.

4. Liverpool – 2013/14 – 101 goals

The only side on this list not to have gone on to be crowned champions, Brendan Rodgers’ 2013/14 side both scored and conceded freely as they played their part in a gripping title race.

Led by their ‘SAS’ strike force of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, the duo fired Liverpool within touching distance of the Premier League title, only for Steven Gerrard’s cruel slip against Chelsea to hand Manchester City the title initiative.

Suarez and Sturridge finished as the division’s two leading scorers with 31 and 21 goals respectively, though it mattered little as City pipped Liverpool to the title by just two points.

3. Manchester City – 2013/14 – 102 goals

The team that pipped Rodgers’ Liverpool to the title, and the only time two teams have scored a century of goals in the same season, Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City were a wonderful free-flowing attacking side.

They finished the 2013/13 season with a staggering 156 goals in all competitions, and became the first side in Premier League history to have three players all score at least 15 league goals.

Yaya Toure, Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero all hit the mark, as City were crowned champions for the second time in three seasons.

2. Chelsea – 2009/10 – 103 goals

The first team to hit a century of league goals in the Premier League era, Carlo Ancelotti’s side racked up the landmark – and the title – with a final day 8-0 thrashing of Wigan at Stamford Bridge.

Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard enjoyed the most prolific seasons of their illustrious Chelsea careers, Lampard contributing 22 league goals whilst Drogba won the Premier League Golden Boot with 29.

The West London side would go on to secure the first league and FA Cup double in their history.

Their 68 home league goals scored remains a Premier League record.

1. Manchester City – 2017/18 – 106 goals

A Premier League season unlikely to be repeated, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City set records tumbling as they were crowned champions in 2017/18.

A record points total (100), the biggest winning margin from second (19), most wins (32), and highest goal difference (+79) were several of the records shattered by City in a phenomenal year.

Their 106 league goals eclipsed Chelsea’s 2010 landmark, with Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling leading the way with 21 and 18 goals respectively.

A historic season of which we most probably will not see again.
