Antonio Conte has hinted that Bryan Gil could start against Eintracht Frankfurt

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has hinted that Bryan Gil could start the Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt later today.

Speaking to the press ahead of the group-stage clash, as quoted in Football. London, the Italian confirmed that Lucas Moura and Dejan Kulusevski are ruled out of the game. When asked about Gil, this is what the gaffer had to say:

“Still in the squad, Bryan Gil. Tomorrow he is the first option for our attack. Kulusevski is out. Moura is out. We wanted to send him on loan to Valencia but the situation has changed. I trust in him, he is working very well. If we need the possibility to give him time, I trust him. He could play.”

Gil has had a tough time in north London since moving there last summer. A highly rated youngster, the 21-year-old winger struggled for playing time. The player even went on a short loan in January to Valencia.

He did get to play there but was not very impressive. However, the Spanish club wanted to bring him on loan again this season and everything looked set to happen. But since Spurs were very unable to bring in a replacement, the move collapsed.

The Spanish Under-21 international has not featured for his side this season at all. He is very below the pecking order and could manage only nine Premier League appearances last season, before leaving on loan.

But the winger now has an opportunity to impress his coach. He will likely start up-front in the attack and will hope to get on the scoresheet and impress to climb up the pecking order. Just 21, he still has a lot of time to establish himself as a regular player for the north London club.

Spurs lost their previous game 3-1 to Arsenal last Saturday. A disappointing result, Conte and fans will hope that their side can come back on track with a win against their German opponents later tonight.
