The trophy will sit in a burgeoning cabinet that also includes two Champions Leagues, two European Cup Winners’ Cup and two Europa Leagues. They’ve also won a pair of Uefa Super Cups.

That takes Chelsea‘s total of major European trophies to nine, although they still lag behind Premier League rivals Liverpool, who remain far and away ahead of the pack on 13.

Manchester United have won a total of six European trophies, with half of them being the European Cup/Champions League. They have also won one each of the Europa League, Cup Winners’ Cup and Super Cup.

Eight other clubs from England have lifted silverware in Europe on multiple occasions, including Spurs who beat Man United to win the Europa League this season, while Ipswich Town and Everton have just the one European trophy each.

We’ve put together a list of the teams with most continental trophies in history, so you can see how each club’s European success compares.

Note: For the purposes of this article we are also including Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, the precursor to the Uefa Cup which ran from 1955 to 1971, but was not organised by Uefa.
