Bournemouth move up to fifth position in the EFL Championship after a comfortable win over Barnsley.

Bournemouth started in a 4-2-3-1 with Dominic Solanke playing upfront.
Bournemouth made all three changes in the offense as they replaced both their wide attacking midfielders and also their striker.
Barnsley started in a 3-4-3 formation with a front three of Clarke Oduor, Cauley Woodrow and Dominik Frieser.
The Barnsley players had an average position near the halfway line as they spent most of time match chasing the ball.
Bournemouth completely dominated the game and did not let Barnsley be on top for a single moment in the game. The Cherries had a high xG of 2.42 while Barnsley had a very low xG of 0.05 as they failed to create any chances throughout the game. Bournemouth also dominated possession of the ball throughout the game.
Bournemouth had 13 attempts on goal with a high shot on target percentage of 53.85%. They played 13 smart passes and nine through passes throughout the game. Dominic Solanke had the highest xG for Bournemouth. Jordan Zemura had a terrific game as he scored two goals and was leading most of the attacking action charts.
Bournemouth were very efficient in front of goal and attempted most of their shots from inside the penalty area. They had seven shots on target and were denied by the keeper four times.
Barnsley attempted three shots but only had their one shot on target. They failed to register more attempts on goal and were not able to put in balls into threatening positions on the pitch which is why they had such a low xG.
Jordan Zemura and Dominic Solanke had two shots on target each. While Zemura converted both his shots on target, Solanke had one his efforts saved by the keeper. Barnsley only created a threat to the Bournemouth defence at the start of the game but were unable to create any noticeable attacks in the game.
Jordan Zemura and Lloyd Kelly each attempted 93 passes throughout the game. They also made a total of 40 passes to each other.
The Barnsley players failed to keep possession of the ball and gave it away very easily even if they won the ball from the Bournemouth players.
The Bournemouth players were comfortable rotating the ball in their own half as they were not pressed by the Barnsley players. The Cherries attempted more crosses from the left flank and Zemura attempted five of those crosses. Bournemouth made a total of 13 smart passes and Jaidon Anthony attempted the five of those smart passes.
Barnsley players only attempted three smart passes and also attempted lower number of crosses when compared to Bournemouth. Callum Brittain attempted three crosses for Barnsley from the right flank.
Bournemouth created more chances from the left flank as it appears on the above visual. Phillip Billing had the highest xT of 0.871.
The left bar for some players is longer and it indicates that some of the Bournemouth midfielders and attackers failed to put in the right passes when they were in a dangerous position to do so. David Brooks had a high xT from his dribbles but failed to provide the right pass. Morgan Rogers had an instant impact as he came on from the bench, he had the highest xT value from the dribbles he attempted.
Most of the Barnsley players had a low xT but Toby Sibbick had a comparatively higher threat from his passes.
The Barnsley players failed to create any threat on the Bournemouth defence with their passes as well as the dribbles they attempted. This contributed to their overall low xG as well.
Bournemouth looked very stable at the back and did not have to face many attacks from their opposition. They won most of the defensive duels they attempted.
Gary Cahill and Lloyd Kelly won five aerial duels each and were able to deal with the crosses and long balls that Barnsley attempted.
The Bournemouth defenders only lost four of the 14 loose ball duels they attempted.
Callum Brittain failed to win the defensive duels he attempted on the right flank. He only won two out of eleven defensive duels.
Michal Helik won an impressive 12 aerial duels out of the 18 he attempted. He dealt with most of the crosses that the Bournemouth players attempted.
While Callum Brittain lost most of his defensive duels, he had a better success rate at winning loose ball duels. Michal Helik won both loose ball duels he attempted.
Bournemouth ended a three-match winless run in all competitions with the victory, while Barnsley are still looking for their second win of the season.
