This season the Manchester City squad has been decimated by injuries and fatigue. It is the by-product of such a heavy workload being placed on Pep Guardiola’s squad. Several players have had to play more often than usual this season. Erling Haaland, Josko Gvardiol, Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan have been required to play every game this campaign. But in the case of Bernardo Silva, his efforts should be applauded, given the amount of roles he has been tasked with playing this season.
Alongside Erling Haaland, Bernardo Silva has barely missed a game this season for Manchester City. He has already played 26 games in all competitions so far this season. Bernardo pretty much starts every game for Pep Guardiola and no role is beneath the Portuguese international. That is a credit to Bernardo and his immense work ethic.
Against Leicester City during Manchester City’s 2-nil win at the King Power Stadium Bernardo Silva played in a variety of roles. He played in midfield, popped up on a wing and in the second half he slotted in at left-back. His performance won’t create headlines but he should be commended for it. It’s that type of display that highlights the industry in Bernardo’s game. That trait has also typified his Manchester City career. Pep Guardiola knows he has a player in Bernardo Silva who will do anything for his team. That was on full display against Leicester City.
Bernardo Silva hasn’t had the flashes of brilliance we usually associate with his play this season. But that is more a by-product of him playing so often this season. But his efforts should be applauded as he’s played an integral role for Pep Guardiola’s side this season as the City squad has been ravaged by injuries and fatigue.
