Lazio picked up their third Serie A win in a row after they defeated AS Roma 3-0 in the Derby della Capitale. Former Roma forward Francesco Graziani was interviewed by ReteSport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), to discuss the result.

For the 68-year-old, Roma lost the match because of their mentality; they didn’t realize that it was a derby.

Graziani then pointed at the striker matchup between Ciro Immobile and Edin Džeko as another reason to why Roma lost the derby. Immobile scored one of the three goals for the Biancocelesti; meanwhile, Džeko had two total shots and failed to scored. He criticized the Bosnian footballer, considering Džeko served as captain against Lazio.

There has never been such a match: a soft, inattentive, bite-less Roma. Three shots in the game in total. I have seen players who took to the field with their heads elsewhere. Except for a couple of elements, they were all below their capabilities. I don’t think Fonseca made a mistake in the formation or tactical choices. Roma lost the derby on the pitch, not on the bench; those who played at the Olimpico on the Giallorossi front misinterpreted what Fonseca surely had prepared. Dzeko? I understand a few times: he doesn’t put grit in, he doesn’t put in wickedness, he doesn’t win a fight. He’s the captain, he should give a signal to his teammates. The difference with Immobile is abysmal.

In May, Lazio and Roma will meet for the final time in Serie A, barring any matchup in the Coppa Italia. Perhaps Immobile will continue to display the gap there is in the attacking department between himself and his Roma counter-part.
