The afternoon was kicked off by a thrilling showdown in Kansas City, where the Portland Timbers won a six-goal affair thanks to a terrific showing from their attacking quartet of Antony, David Da Costa, Santiago Moreno and Kevin Kelsy.

Meanwhile, Inter Miami huffed and puffed but could only manage a goalless draw in front of a packed house at Soldier Field in Chicago. Luis Suárez appeared to have the ball in the back of the net for a late winner but was denied by the offside flag.

Finally, the Crew extended their unbeaten start to the campaign with a dramatic comeback win in St. Louis. Talisman Diego Rossi showed why he is in the MVP discussion with a superb winner in the second-half.

Diego Rossi continues to shine for the Crew, helping to mask the Cucho-sized hole in the Columbus attack.

With this winner in St. Louis Sunday evening, the Uruguayan notched his fifth goal of the season, just one shy of the golden boot lead.

Stat of the day

James Pantemis started the season as the Timbers' number two keeper, but he has made the starting job his own with superb performances in recent weeks

What this means

With their win in Kansas City, the Timbers have righted the ship after a sluggish start to the season, they now sit fourth in the Western Conference and look to have found some major cohesion in attack.

Meanwhile in the east, Columbus extend their unbeaten streak to start the season, and have no avoided defeat in eight straight games.

What comes next

We have to wait another week for more MLS action, but the league returns with a bang next weekend.

Most notably, Inter Miami and Columbus Crew will square off in the Eastern Conference, while Portland will host LAFC at Providence Park.
