Despite failing to qualify by winning the Copa Libertadores between 2021 and 2024, Boca Juniors earned their place at the Club World Cup due to their high ranking based on previous performances in the continental competition.

Boca Juniors' only previous appearance at the Club World Cup came in 2007, where they reached the final before losing 4-2 against Milan.
It's been a fairly disappointing year for Boca Juniors so far with the Buenos Aires giants having been knocked out of the Copa Libertadores in the second round and having lost to Lanus in the last 16 of the Apertura.
Fernando Gago was sacked as Boca Juniors' head coach ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup. Gago's assistant Mariano Herron was named as the club's interim boss.
Edinson Cavani has been Boca's leader in recent years and the veteran strike scored 20 goals last season. The former Man United and PSG forward recently signed a contract extension with Boca until 2026, so expect him to feature at the 2025 Club World Cup.
Boca aren't in the best period of their history ahead of the Club World Cup and a period of instability may see them falter against some of the bigger clubs in the USA with a tricky group ahead against Bayern Munich, Benfica and Auckland City.
