There weren’t too many goals but there was still plenty to enjoy on day eight of Euro 2020.
Here’s our best XI …
Gave away a penalty which ultimately proved costly but also produced two stunning saves to keep them in the game in the first place. Stood out on a day where no goalkeeper had much to do.
Had a tough night up against the dual force of Robertson and Tierney but still produced England’s most memorable moment on Friday night when he headed what looked like a goal-bound effort from Lyndon Dykes.
A rock at the back for Sweden again, Danielson cleared everything that came his way as Sweden delivered another solid defensive performance.
You can’t tell us he wasn’t fully fit. Tierney made the most clearances of any player at Wembley and constantly supported Andy Robertson ahead of him, troubling England with some fantastic deliveries.
Stood out at both ends of the pitch as Croatia laboured to a point. Had struggled against England last Sunday but the 19-year-old showed character and quality with this response.
On a day of cagey matches and few goals, Forsberg scored a crucial one from the penalty spot to put Sweden on the brink of qualification.
Full Scotland debut. At Wembley. Against England. In a tournament. And he bossed it. Brave and composed in possession, gritty without it. An absolute star.
Another one who gave everything in midfield. Embodied Scotland’s calmness in possession. Mixing that with aggression against the ball, and playing a lot of the game on a booking, he was superb.
We’ve squeezed him in as a midfielder. We had to. He basically played there, bombing on down the left with Tierney backing him up. Absolutely everywhere.
Moments of quality were few and far between but Isak had perhaps the two biggest on Friday, with an incredible mazy run nearly leading to a goal before he played a huge role in winning Sweden a penalty.
Adams left everything on the Wembley pitch and looked like the player most likely to break the deadlock throughout. A serious handful for any defender.
