Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi has delivered an encouraging message to the club’s rivals ahead of their Premier League season opener against Manchester United. The Spaniard is among the notable additions to the Gunners’ squad in the current transfer window and is widely expected to make a strong impact.
Zubimendi attracted interest from several major clubs before joining Arsenal, with Real Madrid and Liverpool both monitoring his situation. His arrival at the Emirates has been viewed as a significant boost, given his reputation as one of the most accomplished midfielders in his domestic league.
The Gunners begin their campaign with a challenging fixture against Manchester United, a side that eliminated them from the FA Cup last season. Since the appointment of Ruben Amorim as United’s manager, the Manchester club has been a difficult opponent for the league’s top sides, though not the so-called smaller sides. This weekend’s encounter is anticipated to be a stern test for Mikel Arteta’s men, especially given the stakes at the start of a new season.
Despite the difficulty of the opening fixture, Zubimendi has expressed confidence about what lies ahead. He emphasised that Arsenal’s best form is yet to be seen and conveyed his determination to compete at the highest level.
Speaking to Arsenal Media, Zubimendi said, “It’s a good end to pre-season, but the best is yet to come. In the end, the league is the league. We like to compete; we like to win. I’m very happy that it’s starting now.”

Zubimendi’s comments underline the optimistic mood within the squad following a productive summer transfer window. Arsenal have invested in strengthening key areas of the team, aiming to mount a sustained challenge for domestic honours. The midfielder’s integration into the side will be crucial, as his style of play is expected to complement the existing core of the squad.
A positive result against Manchester United could set the tone for a campaign in which the Gunners aspire to match, or even exceed, their achievements of recent seasons. If the new signings quickly adapt and deliver consistent performances, Arsenal will be well placed to compete at the very top of the table.
The coming months will reveal whether this refreshed squad can translate its potential into tangible success, with Zubimendi’s role likely to be pivotal in that pursuit.
