S.S. Lazio has hosted a realm of impressive players throughout its long and successful history, but who are the best goalscorers? With a huge history of success and memorable moments for the football club, read on to find out more about the best goalscorers in the history of S.S Lazio!
The most successful goalscorer in S.S. Lazio’s history is Ciro Immobile, considered one of Igli Tare’s best signings for the club back in 2016. As of October 2022, he has scored an impressive 187 goals for the club and this is expected to go up as we go further into the season, having scored five times in 11 appearances so far this season. This year, he became the fourth player in Europe’s top leagues to score more than 25 goals in a season at least three times since 2016-17, joining a club of elites made up of Robert Lewandowski, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
As the highest-scoring Italian player in all competitions, it’s no wonder that Silvio Piola is so high up on the list of top goalscorers for S.S. Lazio. He scored 159 goals in total in his time at the club from 1934 to 1947. His record was only broken in 2021 by Immobile, but to this day, he is still the highest all-time goalscorer in Serie A. He was also a World Cup winner with Italy in 1938 where he scored twice in their 4-2 win over Hungary and served as Italy’s captain from 1940 to 1947. Piola had 34 appearances and 30 goals for the international side between 1935 and 1950, and he passed away in 1996 and has two stadiums in Italy named after him.

Giuseppe Signori was with the club for a brief five-year period from 1992 to 1997 but made a big impact. During this time, he was the top Serie A goalscorer three times (1993, 1994 and 1996) and scored 127 goals in total while being part of the best football lineups in history! He holds the record for most consecutive away games with at least one goal in a single season at nine, sharing this title with Ronaldo. He achieved this during the 1992-93 season with Lazio before moving on to play for Bologna in 1998 and scoring an equally impressive 142 goals there. He also represented Italy eight times and took part in 1994 when they reached the final.
Giorgio Chinaglia was born in Tuscany but began his footballing career in Swansea, Wales, in 1964. Just five years later, he joined Lazio and was with the club for a period of seven years from 1969 to 1976. His total of 122 goals is not far behind Signori, putting him just outside the top three Lazio goalscorers. Some sources even state that he is the highest-scoring Italian player in all professional competitions with 398 goals, which would put him ahead of Piola, but this claim is disputed due to the fact that the North American Soccer League, which he played in from 1976 to 1983 at the New York Cosmos, did not adhere to certain FIFA regulations during that period. Whatever you believe, Chinalgia was an international star with an impressive goal-scoring record.
The last of the top five goal scorers in S.S. Lazio history is Bruno Giordano, boasting an impressive 203 appearances and 108 goals in his period in the club that lasted a decade, from 1975 to 1985. Some people hailed him as the heir of Chinalgia, coming to Lazio just one year after Chinalgia left and showing similar characteristics and strong striking ability. He remains Lazio’s all-time top goalscorer in the Coppa Italia and helped them to win the competition in 1987, finishing as the top scorer of the competition that year with ten goals.
