The goals in week four of MLS play were technically sound, aesthetically pleasing, and downright spectacular.

Goals aside, the week also saw St. Louis CITY break a league record, Atlanta United show their dominance, and Toronto FC get their first win of the season. From late game-winners against a rival to top-corner golazos, some of the strikes on this list are very early goal-of-the-year candidates.

5. Hector Herrera (vs. Austin FC)

What better way to get your first win of the season than a late game-winner against a hated rival?That’s exactly what Mexico international Hector Herrea did as he sealed all three points for the Houston Dynamo with an 86th-minute strike over Austin FC. The goal couldn’t have come at a better time for the Dynamo. Austin was pushing hard for an equalizer, but Houston stood firm and stayed strong defensively. This allowed the men in Orange to frustrate the opposition just enough that they were able to march to the other end of the field, get Herrera in an attacking position, and kill any hope Austin had left. Talk about a rivalry.

4. Kacper Przybyłko (vs. FC Cincinnati)

One touch, two touches, BOOM!That sentence is an apt summary of the goal Chicago Fire forward Kacper Przybylko scored against FC Cincinnati,In what was an attacking clinic on both sides, Przybylko’s 32nd-minute goal was the standout among all of them.His technique and ability to stay onside during the buildup were key in what made the finish so great.Cincinnati’s defense was pulled apart and with the space left in behind, the Poland international got his angles correct and bent the ball into the back post.The goal was a true thing of beauty.

3. Alan Velasco (vs. Sporting KC)

Alan Velasco continues to show why FC Dallas spent seven million dollars to bring him to MLS from Independiente.His stunning, almost - solo goal is worthy of number three on this list. The one-touch passing between him and teammate Sebastian Lletget saw Dallas equalize in the 55th minute.Not only did Velasco dribble through multiple players to get himself into prime offensive positioning, but the technique to put the ball in the top corner of the net was even more impressive.

2. Gustavo Bou (vs. Nashville SC)

The only goal in the New England Revolution - Nashville SC match was a doozy. Welcome back, Gustavo Bou.After missing the first few games of the season waiting for his green card, the Argentine is back with a bang with a thunderous strike in the 85th minute against a staunch Nashville defense. The amount of power and precision he put into the strike was world-class. There was nothing Nashville goalkeeper Joe Willis could've done.

1. Thiago Almada (vs. Portland Timbers)

Thiago Almada can’t stop scoring. The World Cup winner once again showed his class with a stunning 30-yard freekick to beat Portland goalkeeper Alijaz Ivacic. In a goal that defied physics, Almada caught Ivacic flat-footed and stuck the ball into the back of the net easily to get his first of the night and Atlanta’s second of the game. If the 21-year-old keeps this up, he may not be an Atlanta United player for much longer.
