Bristol City are not wasting any time preparing for the 2022/23 Championship season, with Mark Sykes already signed and a host of centre-backs reportedly on their radar.

Derby County’s Curtis Davies, Northampton Town’s Fraser Horsfall, and Oxford United’s Elliott Moore have all been linked with a move to Ashton Gate as Nigel Pearson looks to shore things up defensively.

He’ll know that though there were some positives from his first full season at the helm, an upturn in results will be needed or the South West club’s hierarchy may decide that a change is needed in the dugout.

Pearson has made it no secret from the start that he felt it would take a while to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion and supporters will be hoping they start to see that group take shape this summer.

City have had some fantastic players in recent years but have never been able to keep a squad together that was capable of landing a top six place.
