Gareth Bale’s stunning bicycle kick will go down in history as one of the greatest goals ever scored in a Champions League final.

Just 122 seconds after coming off the bench, Bale’s incredible effort gave Real Madrid the lead.

The Welshman scored one more to seal glory in Kyiv but was his first effort the greatest Champions League final goal of all-time?

Here are our pick of the bunch.

David Villa: Barcelona v Manchester United (2011)

It doesn’t look spectacular but this is so aesthetically pleasing.

Villa put Barcelona 3-1 up at Wembley with a controlled, curling effort from the edge of the area.

Hernan Crespo: Liverpool v AC Milan, 2005

Liverpool’s comeback in Istanbul ensured this goal has been forgotten but we have to bring it up in this list.

One of the best assists we’ve ever seen from Kaká and a beautiful clipped finish to cap it all.

Alessandro Del Piero: Borussia Dortmund v Juventus, 1997

A moment of genius from Del Piero. Just when you think the cross is too far behind him, he manages to direct it towards the far corner with an inspired flick.

It was ultimately heartbreak for Juve but this one has remained with us.

Diego Milito: Inter v Bayern Munich, 2010

The best solo goal a final has ever seen?

Milito, of course. His second of the night won Inter the trophy at the Bernabéu.

Dejan Savićević: AC Milan v Barcelona, 1994

Barcelona’s dream team were humbled by Milan, who saved their best for last.

Savićević stole the ball to score an incredible lob and put Milan four goals ahead.

Lars Ricken: Borussia Dortmund v Juventus, 1997

You thought Bale had an instant impact off the bench?

Just 21 at the time, Ricken sealed glory for Dortmund back in 1997 just 16 seconds after entering the pitch.

Mario Mandžukić: Real Madrid v Juventus (2017)

Just last year we were having this same debate thanks to Mario Mandžukić.

The Croatian now, unfortunately for him, may not have even scored the best overhead kick in a Champions League final. And he ended up on the losing side. Poor guy.

Zinedine Zidane: Real Madrid v Bayer Leverkusen (2002)
