Neil Lennon will be axed by Celtic – and all his backroom staff could follow.

That is the verdict of former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs as he surveys the wreckage of a calamitous campaign.

Celtic have lurched from one crisis to the next on and off the pitch and multiple big names should pay with their jobs.

McAvennie believes that Lennon and his staff are a “big problem” at Celtic and he would like to see them replaced and a new management team come in.

The Scottish champions have made a catastrophic defence of their title and their 10-in-a-row tilt is in tatters as they sit 21 points behind Rangers in the Scottish Premiership table.

“There needs to be change and I think Lenny and the backroom staff are a big problem – it has got to change,” McAvennie told Football Insider.

“There are going to be significant sackings over the next year or so. I do not know if they will change the management before the end of the season.

“I would like to see it done before, get a new guy in who can then recruit the players he wants in the summer. Celtic should not do what they always do and that is leave it until the last minute.

“I do not know what the situation is with Lenny but hopefully he can go with his head held high. It is crashing all around him at the moment.”

Celtic were dumped out of the Scottish League Cup by minnows Ross County before Christmas.

In addition to their domestic woes, the Hoops have also flopped on the European stage.

They failed to qualify for the Champions League and were knocked out of the Europa League in the group stages.
