Chelsea have tracked Benjamin Sesko for a number of years, but the striker is no longer of interest and the Athletic have revealed why.

The Blues have been busy this summer and have already completed the signings of Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens.

Chelsea are also working on the signings of Dutch duo Jorrel Hato and Xavi Simons and are reportedly making good progress on both deals.

Why Chelsea are no longer interested in Benjamin Sesko

The Blues have given their attack a major revamp, with Estevao Willian also now a Chelsea player, meaning there’s four new attacking players in the squad which finished last season.

Noni Madueke has left, whilst both Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix are expected to leave, and there’s also question marks over Nicolas Jackson’s future.

If the Blues complete a deal for Simons, it’s hard to see them moving for another forward unless Jackson leaves, which looks unlikely at this stage.

Chelsea were linked with Alexander Isak when news broke that he’d informed Newcastle he wanted to leave on Thursday.

Sesko is another name the Blues have been linked with, and could be a possible replacement if Jackson were to move, but The Athletic have revealed why he’s no longer a player of interest.

The report states Chelsea have followed Sesko since 2022, but considered him to raw and didn’t make a move when he swapped RB Salzburg for RB Leipzig.

The Athletic state Chelsea’s plan was to have one out and out striker, and one all rounder, with Sesko no longer in their thinking following the signings of Delap and Pedro.

Nicolas Jackson future still in doubt

With Sesko no longer of interest one of the big topics is the future of Jackson, who’s been linked with both Manchester United and Aston Villa.

Jackson has made it clear he wants to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place, whilst the Blues are thought to have put an £80-£100m valuation on the 24-year-old.

It seems the only way things will change is if Chelsea get a huge offer or Jackson has a change of mind and decides he wants to leave.
