América surprised everyone last year with the loan signing of Uruguayan attacker Federico Viñas, who has since demonstrated on several occasions that, despite his humble origins, he is a player who can succeed at the highest level in Mexico.

According to journalist Jonatan Peña, the purchase option América had agreed upon with Uruguayan side Juventud when the loan was arranged is for $1.9m.

The club has since verbally promised Viñas that they will go ahead and sign him to a multi-year deal once football resumes and the board can meet with the player once again.

In just 18 games for América, Viñas has already scored eight goals and found himself as a regular in Miguel Herrera’s starting XI.
