The 4 Notts County players who could attract serious transfer interest this summer

The Magpies ended their first season back in the Football League in 14th place after a mid-season slump curtailed any chances of securing back-to-back promotions for the first time in 33 years.

But there will be plenty of positives for Stuart Maynard to take heading into pre-season as he gears up for his first campaign in charge of the club, but he will want to ensure that the majority of Notts' star players remain at Meadow Lane next term.

That being said, Football League World has taken a look at the few Magpies players who will be subject of interest ahead of the new campaign.

Macaulay Langstaff

Perhaps the most obvious player to be linked with a move away from Meadow Lane is last season's top scorer Macaulay Langstaff.

The 27-year-old finished his first season as a Football League player with 28 goals in League Two, scooping the Golden Boot award ahead of Paul Mullin and Matt Smith.

Langstaff was signed from Gateshead ahead of the Magpies' promotion-winning campaign in the National League for £50,000 and has since scored 70 goals in 96 appearances for the East Midlands club.

And his goalscoring exploits have already been a subject of interest to several clubs, with various reports in the January window suggesting a move for the Stockton-born striker was on the cards.

But having signed a new deal ahead of this term, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, should a deal materialise, the club have reportedly placed a £1.5 million valuation on one of their prized assets.

It remains to be seen where Langstaff's future lies, but it looks set to be a nail-biting wait for Notts County supporters to see whether they can keep their star striker next term to aid a potential promotion push.

Jodi Jones

Another standout performer for the Magpies this season has been Jodi Jones. The 26-year-old joined the club as a free agent last summer following his release from Oxford United.

The Malta international played a huge role in Notts' return to the Football League, scoring a dramatic extra-time winner against Boreham Wood in the semi-final to send his side to Wembley.

Having been the victim of three separate ACL injuries, Luke Williams put his faith in the winger to sign him permanently, and he has most certainly repaid that and then some.

Jones notched 24 league assists this term, breaking the fourth division record, while also surpassing Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne and former Arsenal star Thierry Henry's record for the most assists in an English season.

The 26-year-old was also named the League Two Player of the Season, capping off an incredible campaign.

With another year left on his current deal, the Magpies could be interested in cashing in on Jones should an acceptable offer come in rather than potentially losing him on a free next term but should he remain at Meadow Lane next term, Notts stand a very good chance of challenging for a promotion spot.

Dan Crowley

Another summer signing features on the list in midfielder Dan Crowley.

The former Arsenal academy product arrived from Morecambe during the summer window and from his first pre-season outings, many could see the potential the 26-year-old could bring to this Notts side.

The Coventry-born midfielder managed 25 goal involvements in his first campaign as a Notts County player, forming a great understanding with the forward players and was often the one to link play from the middle of the park to the likes of David McGoldrick, Macaulay Langstaff, and Alassana Jatta.

Often comfortable taking the ball from deeper positions, Crowley possesses an array of traits that could slot him into any team in the division and could see him attract attention from those potentially higher up the English football pyramid.

Despite having only just finished his first full season at Meadow Lane, the 26-year-old has certainly established himself as one of the most important players at the club, and it seems imperative that Stuart Maynard keeps hold of him to ensure a better season than last.

Aaron Nemane

A player who has perhaps gone slightly under the radar this term when looking at his output is winger Aaron Nemane.

Since Luke Williams' arrival at the club, the 26-year-old has been shifted to a wing-back position to accommodate the formation often used by the Magpies and despite initially struggling with the adaptation, the Frenchman has begun to flourish.

Nemane managed a career-best tally in terms of goals this season, with eight in the league, which included a run of five goals in five games midway through the campaign.

His attacking quality and ability to take on a man are his most notable traits when evaluating his game as a whole but his defensive improvements have also been commendable in his most recent positional change, making him perhaps another irreplaceable figure in the Notts starting line-up.

He is another player among a plethora of attacking options that the Magpies possess that will certainly attract potential suitors, and with Nemane not playing in a natural position currently, could thrive further up the pitch in a wide formation.
