Whether they’re in the Premier League or the Championship, it promises to be an exciting summer for West Brom as they prepare for their first transfer window under Shilen Patel.

West Brom’s summer plans

It’s a difficult time for the recruitment team at The Hawthorns, as they will no doubt be drawing up two lists of potential targets as they seek reinforcements to help Carlos Corberan.

Pleasingly, though, they should be in a position where they are no longer scouring for free agents and loans, as Patel will be capable of giving the boss funds to improve the group.

So, it will be interesting to see who comes through the door at The Hawthorns ahead of next season, but it won’t all be about incomings, as departures are needed to ensure the squad is balanced.

In some cases, Albion may have to resist offers for their better players from other clubs, but there will be some individuals who are keen to leave the Baggies for their own careers. Here we look at THREE who may push to move in the summer…

Josh Griffiths

Albion are in a good position where they have two good keepers on their books, with number one Alex Palmer having been a reliable figure between the sticks for Corberan this season.

As a result, Josh Griffiths has endured a frustrating campaign, as his minutes have been limited to cup games, with his last outing coming in the FA Cup loss to Wolves in January.

Having had loan spells with Cheltenham, Lincoln and Portsmouth over the years, Griffiths has had a taste of first-team football, and he’s sure to want more of that.

Whilst Albion would like Griffiths to stick around, the reality is that he will know a move is required for the next step in his career, so he may seek a transfer, and the club are unlikely to stand in his way.

Cedric Kipre

Cedric Kipre has been one of the outstanding performers for the Baggies this season, but a major worry for the club is that his contract expires in the summer.

You would expect talks to have been ongoing in the background, but as of now no agreement has been reached, and it would make sense if Kipre is assessing his options.

Clearly, he is enjoying his time at The Hawthorns, but journalist Fabrizio Romano has already claimed that top-flight clubs from England and in Europe are monitoring the 27-year-old.

It’s natural that Kipre will want to test himself against the best, so if Albion fail to win promotion then they’re going to be vulnerable to losing the centre-back, which would be a big blow given his importance to the side.

Nathaniel Chalobah

It’s been a tough season for Nathaniel Chalobah with West Brom, as whilst he has featured regularly, he has not been a regular in the starting XI, and with his deal expiring in a few months, a departure could suit all parties.

From the Baggies’ perspective, Chalobah hasn’t hit the heights they would’ve expected, and there are players at the club ahead of him in the pecking order, which is unlikely to change.

For the player, at 29, he will want to be playing week in, week out, but that’s not happening at Albion, and it’s hard to see it changing in the future. Therefore, Chalobah could be looking for a new club in the summer, and he will hope to move somewhere that will give him more game time.
