The Championship, League One and League Two have become some of the most competitive leagues anywhere in Europe, and next season will be no different, with plenty of automatic promotion pushes, play-off battles and relegation fights to look forward to.

As we saw once again last season, there were some seriously impressive attendances across all three divisions of the EFL, highlighting the passion and commitment that exists within fan bases from across the English football pyramid.

With that in mind, we asked ChatGPT to rank the 20 loudest stadiums in the EFL.

20 Portsmouth - Fratton Park

Portsmouth made a poor start to life back in the Championship last season after their promotion from League One, but they improved significantly over the course of the campaign as they managed to avoid relegation, eventually finishing in 16th place.

Pompey's home form was crucial to their survival, with John Mousinho's men picking up 40 of their 54 points on their own patch, and while AI does not believe Fratton Park is the loudest ground in the EFL, it claims that it usually possesses an intense atmosphere.

Hull City only narrowly avoided relegation last season under Ruben Selles, and the Spaniard lost his job last month despite keeping the club in the Championship, but owner Acun Ilicali will be hoping for much better next term following the appointment of new head coach Sergej Jakirovic.

Tigers supporters were unable to roar their team to much success last season as they picked up just 23 points at the MKM Stadium, the lowest in the division, and while ChatGPT says the noise levels at the ground are inconsistent, it believes it can be one of the more fierce environments in EFL when the team are performing.

18 West Bromwich Albion - The Hawthorns

After a season of managerial instability that saw both Carlos Corberan and Tony Mowbray occupy the dugout, West Brom finished in a disappointing ninth place in the Championship last term, but they will be aiming to challenge for promotion in the upcoming campaign under new head coach Ryan Mason.

AI claims that The Hawthorns can be one of the loudest stadiums in the second tier when the Albion faithful are fully behind their team, but it says that is not always the case on a regular basis.

17 Middlesbrough - Riverside Stadium

Middlesbrough were billed as one of the promotion favourites in the Championship at the start of last season, but a poor second half of the campaign saw them finish 10th, and that resulted in the sacking of head coach Michael Carrick.

According to ChatGPT, Boro's loyal and passionate fan base create a strong atmosphere, particularly during big games, but it believes the size and design of the Riverside Stadium can have a negative impact on noise levels.

It was a year to forget for Cardiff City last season as they were relegated from the Championship, with three different managers taking charge on the way to the drop in Erol Bulut, Omer Riza and Aaron Ramsey, and they will play in the third tier of English football for the first time in 22 years next term.

The Bluebirds have struggled to fill their home ground at times in recent years, but despite this, AI claims the club's proud supporters still generate plenty of noise, and it highlighted the South Wales derby against Swansea City as an example of an electric atmosphere.

15 Bristol City - Ashton Gate

Bristol City reached the Championship play-offs for the first time since 2008 last season as they finished sixth in the table, but they were on the wrong end of a record-breaking 6-0 aggregate defeat to Sheffield United in their semi-final, and they suffered further frustration as head coach Liam Manning then left the club to take over at Norwich City.

Ashton Gate was a fortress last season during the Robins' top six push, and ChatGPT notes that the atmosphere inside the ground is particularly impressive when the team are performing to their best.

Ipswich Town returned to the Premier League following a 22-year absence last season, but unfortunately for the Suffolk outfit, their stay in the top flight proved to be a brief one as they were relegated with just 22 points to their name.

Many of the Tractor Boys' home games have been sell-outs in recent years, and AI believes the tight and compact nature of Portman Road helps to increase volume levels inside the stadium.

13 Millwall - The Den

Millwall emerged as surprise Championship play-off contenders in the second half of last season following the arrival of head coach Alex Neil in December, but they missed out on the top six in agonising fashion on the final day of the campaign.

The Den has long been one of the most intimidating destinations for opposition teams to visit, and ChatGPT claims that Lions supporters can always be relied upon to generate a formidable atmosphere.

12 Wigan Athletic - Brick Community Stadium

It was another underwhelming campaign for Wigan Athletic in League One last season, but new manager Ryan Lowe managed to guide the club away from relegation danger after taking over in March.

The home ends of the Brick Community Stadium have been relatively empty in recent years, with the often large away contingents making more of the noise, but AI believes that Latics supporters still make their voices heard, even if there are not always too many of them.

It was a turbulent year on and off the pitch for Blackburn Rovers last season, and a strong run of form towards the end of the campaign under Valerien Ismael was not enough to get them into the play-offs.

Like Wigan's stadium, Ewood Park can house a sizeable number of travelling supporters, which can sometimes drown out the home crowd, but ChatGPT says that the Rovers faithful do still create a loud atmosphere, particularly during key moments of the game.
