The 10 highest scoring sides in Europe in 2023-24: Brighton, Barcelona…

Plenty of the usual suspects make their way into the top 10 highest scorers in 2023-24, but there is also room for some surprise inclusions on the list.
Several sides from around Europe have been in fine form at the beginning of the 2023-24 season as they have had no problem with finding the back of the net.
We’ve taken a closer look at these sides and have ranked the 10 highest-scoring teams in Europe’s top five leagues in 2023-24.
Adi Hutter’s side have been plenty of fun to watch so far as they currently lead the way with the most goals scored in Ligue 1. Former Liverpool winger Takumi Minamino has been in fine form as already has six goal contributions in this campaign.
Simone Inzaghi’s side currently top Serie A and they also lead the way for the most goals scored in the Italian top flight. The highlight of their season so far was undoubtedly their 5-1 thumping of AC Milan at the San Siro.
In the absence of Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko, Lautaro Martinez has stepped up to the plate and has scored five goals himself so far.
Diego Simeone’s side are usually typecast as a defensive-orientated outfit, but that’s been far from the case this year. The likes of Alvaro Morata and Antoine Griezmann have combined for some fantastic goals of late.
Their recent 3-1 triumph over local rivals Real Madrid was a reminder of just how deadly Simeone’s side can be in the final third. With plenty of options in attack, Atletico could be in for an entertaining campaign.
Having already played the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Brighton and Aston Villa, Newcastle have had a tricky start to the season. Things have been looking up for them lately as they have now strung together back-to-back wins.
Funnily enough, eight of the 16 goals they have scored so far came in one match. Sheffield United were the victims that day and Eddie Howe will be hoping his side can carry that same goalscoring threat throughout the season.
Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak have been the main source of goals, but impressively enough, 10 different players have already been on the scoresheet for the Toon this season.
`It will come as no surprise to absolutely anyone that Man City have been one of the most prolific sides in Europe this year once again. Pep Guardiola’s side scored 94 league goals last season and they are currently projected to beat this tally.
The Bundesliga rarely disappoints for goals and Stuttgart have been plenty of fun to watch so far. They have scored three or more goals in four of their five league matches so far and look set for a successful campaign.
Sebastian Hoeneß has done a fine job since arriving at the club in April as his side currently sit third in the Bundesliga, one point behind league leaders Bayern Munich.
Xabi Alonso has done a terrific job since taking charge at Bayer Leverkusen. He joined the club in October last year when they were sat in the relegation zone and then guided them to an unbelievable 6th placed finish.
The German outfit have gone to the next level this season and could well end up in a title race as they are currently joint on points with Bayern at the summit. It’s no wonder Real Madrid are sounding out Alonso as a potential managerial candidate.
It’s not taken long for Harry Kane to have an impact at his new club. The England captain has scored or assisted in all but one of his starts for Bayern so far and he’s already been breaking records out in Germany.
Despite losing the likes of Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister this summer, Brighton have looked more prolific than ever. Roberto De Zerbi’s side have already hit the back of the net 18 times which is more than any other Premier League side.
The Seagulls are averaging three goals per game right now and are currently projected to end the season with 114 goals, which would be a new Premier League record.
Girona have enjoyed an almost flawless start to the 2023-24 campaign as they currently top La Liga with 19 points from a possible 21. Considering Michel’s side finished 10th last season, their unbelievable start this time around has been a pleasant surprise.
The goals have been well-shared out between the entire squad too as 11 different players have all been on the scoresheet so far. You won’t be disappointed if you tune into one of their matches this season.
Xavi’s side had by far and away the best defensive record in Europe last season as they only conceded 20 goals throughout the entire campaign, but their attack has been grabbing the headlines this year.
Robert Lewandowski has been in fine goalscoring form as he currently leads the way as La Liga’s top scorer along with Morata and Jude Bellingham with five goals.
Barcelona will be eyeing up back-to-back La Liga titles and based on their attacking prowess, they stand a good chance of coming out on top once again.
