Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has told Denmark international striker Rasmus Hojlund he has to stop being nice with his teammates if he wants to improve.

The 21-year-old ended his debut campaign with the Red Devils with 16 goals in 43 appearances and has notched twice in six games this term.

Hojlund has plenty of potential and room for improvement, and Berbatov has told him how to get better at Man United going forward.

“I think as a striker he needs to be more demanding and arguing,” the legendary Bulgarian hitman told Rio Ferdinand what he would tell the Dane to help him improve.

“Not being so nice and just pushing the buttons of some of the players around him. Like give me the ball, asking for the ball, when the ball is not coming because I can see that he was doing some runs behind the defence and then nobody was seeing him. That should make you angry, you have a point to be angry after this one.”

Berbatov scored 56 goals in 149 games for Man United after joining them following a return of 46 goals in 102 games for Tottenham Hotspur, and he helped the Red Devils win two Premier League titles and reach two Champions League finals.

He established himself as a hero for the Old Trafford club and he knows a thing or two about the art of goalscoring – which Hojlund could learn from if he is to become a great hitman.

The youngster is good but needs to be more vocal and demanding of his teammates if he is to become great.

Being under the tutelage of Man United assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy should also help Hojlund get better in front of goal, and he needs to learn all that he can under the Dutchman to establish himself as one of the best finishers in the Premier League and beyond.
