The Blues have now won five league games in a row and have only lost twice in 16 games this season, whilst they are also the league’s top scorers.

Enzo Fernandez has stated the Blues are keen to avoid unrealistic expectations but they have found themselves in conversations surrounding the title.

Maresca has consistently played down that his team are title contenders, but there may come a point where he’s unable to keeping doing that.

Chelsea are clearly ahead of schedule, but it’s unclear if the Blues can maintain their form over the course of a season and how this group would deal with the pressure of a genuine title race.

The Blues have a chance to momentarily go top of the table if they beat Everton on Sunday, with Liverpool kicking off later on in the day.

Carragher has highlighted one advantage he believes Chelsea have over his former club in the race for the Premier League title.

“I still look at them and don’t see a title-winning team in there, just because when I look at the goalkeeper and the two centre-backs,” he told Sky Sports Monday Night Football.

“The season where Liverpool came really close under Brendan Rogers, they came from nowhere. No one expected it, but they didn’t have European football.

“I know Chelsea do, but they can put their second team out and still win that competition. That is something that definitely puts them right in the race.”

The Conference League could really help Chelsea out when it comes to the latter stages of the season and they are able to rest key players for the league, which Liverpool won’t have the luxury of doing in the Champions League.

There’s a long way to go and it will be interesting to see how the rest of the season pans out and whether Chelsea can maintain their form.
