That half-time chat worked wonders

A big well done to Eddie and his Newcastle United Hotrods after we successfully bounced back from our midweek disappointment at Selhurst Park, with an (eventually) emphatic 5-1 home victory against Sheffield United.

My commiserations go to Chris Wilder and his team as they forlornly crashed out of the EPL. They will be back, probably by the end of next season.

After Newcastle United conceded early, it took a couple of great blocks by Big Dan Burn to stop the Blades from doubling their lead.

Eddie’s boys steadily played themselves back into the game and after going in at the break at 1-1, whatever the half-time team talk was, it did the trick.

The Rolls Royce Alexander Isak is now gently revving up to be the first Toon player since Alan Shearer to blast 20 Premier League goals in a season.

Elsewhere and our rivals for 6th place, Manchester United, drew 1-1 at home against Vincent Kompany’s battling Burnley.

I’ve been saying for a while that the Salfords are a dysfunctional club and are lucky to be where they are in the league.

I watched the early Saturday kick-off between West Ham United and Liverpool in Tynemouth Club.

It was a quite an entertaining game. Klopp had dropped the out of sorts Salah and misfiring Nunez, and it was the Irons’ fans favourite Jarrod Bowen ,who gave West Ham the lead before half-time.

Liverpool fought back in the second half to go 2-1 up and looked to be in control, before Michail Antonio restored parity.

Shortly after this goal one of my pals, who is a Luckypool fan, came into the club and his first words were to ask one of the lads if it was still 2-1.

I overheard this from the other side of the bar and shouted over “Oh no it isn’t you glory hunting gentleman”, or words to that effect.

So there is going to be no whimsical title winning farewell for the departing Klopp.

I saw last night that it didn’t take the red scouser fans long to come out in force to bemoan their team’s lack of achievement this season.

They’ve only won the Carabao Cup and there will be no Europa Final in Dublin either apparently. My heart goes out to the poor things.

Aston Villa and Chelsea provided some evening entertainment at Villa Park, with the Blues coming back from 2-0 down to earn a draw.

That’s basically sent the slim European hopes that the Stamford Bridge club held up, the swanny.

Newcastle United now have two Saturday 3pm kick-offs in a row against Burnley at Turf Moor on 4th May, followed by Brighton at Gallowgate.

After these games, I expect us to be above ten Hag’s Manc misfits, heading into our rearranged midweek game at Mould Trafford.

After a recent article there was some disgruntlement within the comments section, in that I hadn’t mentioned our “friends” down the A19, like I usually do.

So please accept my apologies and I will finish off by saying that Michael Dodds’ Sunderland lost again to Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday to tumble to 15th in the Championship making it nine defeats in their last fourteen games and only two wins in those 14 games. Even better, the Mackems haven’t won at home since 10th February and only scored two goals in front of their own fans in that time..
