Head coach Edin Terzic, sporting director Sebastian Kehl, team captain Emre Can and players Nico Schlotterbeck and Karim Adeyemi spoke about the match against Stuttgart. The match reactions.

Edin Terzic (at the press conference): "It was an extraordinarily good atmosphere until the 99th minute, also because the fans sensed that we had invested everything, absolutely everything. We performed well against a top team that do not make many errors. Unfortunately, we made one error too many and couldn't take advantage of the chances we had. We have to live with the result, but we have a lot of positives to take away."

Sebastian Kehl (in the mixed zone): "We're very disappointed. The setting that the fans provided with the choreography and the great support across the 90 minutes deserved considerably more. The team gave everything right up to the last moment and still lost the match. I don't think it was deserved. There was at least a point in it for us; we had sufficient and indeed the clearer goalscoring opportunities. We wanted to further improve our situation but the weekend didn't go our way. We're now fifth in the table, but everything is still possible. We want to get into the Champions League."

Emre Can (to BVB TV): "We're the unlucky losers. We had a decent game but did not score a goal and were hit on the counter. That cannot be allowed to happen, but unfortunately it did happen. We keep going. There are still a lot of games."

Nico Schlotterbeck (to Sky): "We put everything into it, we laid siege, we had many chances. For me, we were the better team. We unfortunately failed to take our chances. I believe I should've scored (editor's note: referring to his chance to make it 1-1). A great game awaits us in Madrid on Wednesday. If we approach it like this, I'm positive that we'll win it."

Karim Adeyemi (in the mixed zone): "It's very bitter, also because of the 50-year celebrations. Stuttgart weren't better. We had chances. We can ultimately be satisfied with our performance but not the result. I could not make proper contact with the ball before my chance in the first half. Had I been able to shoot high, it would've probably been in. The ref had a decent game but for me (editor's note: in the fifth minute) the contact was there – and not a minor contact either. That's why I went down. For me, it was a penalty."
