Ternana 3-0 Milan Futuro: Abate punishes former club with comfortable win

Milan Futuro’s winless round in Serie C was extended to six games this afternoon as Ternana prevailed 3-0. Seeing as Ignazio Abate is the manager of the team, it’s a defeat that hurts a little extra for the Rossoneri.

Abate was the manager of Milan’s Primavera last season and opted to leave as his contract expired. Milan, at that point, had already chosen Daniele Bonera for the Futuro side and Abate thus signed a contract with Serie C ‘rivals’ Ternana instead.

There was some tension between Abate and Milan after the departure, as we discussed at great length on our Substack, but it’s now water under the bridge. That being said, today’s 3-0 defeat against Ternana hurt a bit extra for Milan Futuro.

It was a well-deserved win for the home side, who are second in the league table, but mistakes at the back made things very easy for them today. On the second goal, for example, Damir Zukic gave the ball away to the striker who just slotted it home.

Albeit with a game in hand, Daniele Bonera’s boys are now second-to-last in the standings with just 12 points after 16 games. Something needs to change, quick as well, otherwise Milan Futuro could be relegated at the end of the season.

Milan Futuro’s XI for the game (3-4-1-2): Raveyre; Zukic, Minotti, Coubis; Jimenez, Malaspina, Stalmach, Bartesaghi; Vos; Sia, Longo.
